Hi there,

Could you please help me choose a headset for my home studio? I'm between the AKG K240 MKII and AKG K271 MKII. Which is the best for use with the AXE FX Ultra?

Thanks in advance!

MrE.

I have two pair of the 240 and have no experience with the 271.

The biggest difference between the 240 & 271 is that the 240 is semi-open and the 271 is closed.

The 271 will give you more isolation and bleed less into your environment.

I prefer closed back designs over the semi-open but that is a personal preference.

The other difference is the published frequency response, with the 240 listed as 15-20k and the 271 at 16-28k.

I know that my hearing doesn't go up to either 20k and certainly not to 28k, so that would be a moot point for me.

The cans I use the most currently are Beyerdynamic DT 770 which are closed, have the most comfort, and have the lowest extension of the headphones I've owned.

I prefer k271 over k240
you can use the 271 to track vocals with no bleed into the mic as well as for reference/monitoring. they sound very open.

make sure you have a quality headphone jack to plug into

I've been using the audio kontrol 1 with the k271 mkII it drives them very well.
it also serves as a great audio and midi interface between the axe and your pc.
