It has a circuit that goes into the effects loop that gives you back the low end while tightening up your sound. I had one and bought a KSR Eros and thought it was better. I run a Helix in 4 cable method with a EVH 5150 III Stealth 50 watt. Once I got rid of the Airis Nebula, I found that I had block in the Helix in the wrong place and discovered that the Airis Nebula was superior.
In the pic, the two knobs on the far left are what give you back the low end.
