Acoustic patch - Ernie Ball Game Changer-based... other stuff... Video.

I scored one of these relatively rare 'The Game Changer' birds today. The first thing I put through the ringer was its piezo qualities. Crikey, they are SO good. So, regardless of the other zillion cool things about these guitars (basically cyber Axis), I immediately set about writing an acoustic patch that would suit. It may suit your piezo equipped axe as well, I hope so.

Remember, Scenes 1 and 3 are gunned for the piezo while Scenes 2 and 4 are most definitely not. Be careful.

Here's the demo (honeymoon) video.

Here's the preset. Have fun.

I would definitely add some sort of IR to the patch.

I must admit that while it sounds 'good', it does not sound very much like an acoustic to me. It sounds like a piezo.

I thinks moke's acoustic simulation patch sounds much more like a real acoustic guitar http://www.custompresets.com/store/...ulator!!_(New_and_Improved!)_(Axe-Fx_ll).html (the demo is played with a MusicMan Axis bridge pickup (no piezo installed). (I am a Moke beta tester, but I was hooked by his acoustic sim long before that)

You might be able to get an even better sound (than Moke's sim), if you use your new guitar and add one of the many piezo->mic'ed acoustic IRs that float around. This one seems very popular http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/tone-matched-my-taylor-914ce.108279/

yeah, it does sound really good, but if you did a tonematch to a real acoustic, it would sound stellar. just find a nice HQ demo on youtube and tonematch to it!

I had one of those (minus the piezo) when it first came out. I don't remember why I sold it, but I remember how much it reminded me of my Axis which is one of my favorite guitars....maybe it was too similar....I don't like redundancy.

If I had that piezo pickup though things may have been different.

Which cab do you use with plexi?
One of the Greenback cabs from the new Obot pack, if I'm not mistaken.

The embarrassing thing is, I'm totally unfamiliar and unexperienced with anything 'tone match'. It's an important lesson I need to teach myself, and soon.
I used Burgs preset with a Tailor IR and its great! I have MM JP6 with piezo.
cheers!
Glad it's working for you. Great stuff. :)

I'm embarrassingly unfamiliar and unexperienced with the employment of IR's. It's something I need to get across sooner rather than later. Thanks for the heads up re Moke's stuff. I'll definitely check it out. Cheers.

Just download the Taylor IR's from the link above and put it as a cab in your signal chain. I placed the IR in paralel so I can mix the sound of your preset with the Taylor. It's that simple.

Cheers!

Wow. That's a great thing. Thanks so much for the tip. It does add a more realistic impression to the sound, for sure. I'll demo accordingly tomorrow if I get a chance. Cheers!

Brett, I'm looking forward to your next video of the Game Changer.

In fact, I was inspired by your video and decided to buy one. Yes they are hard to find.

Lol... I just bought a minty used one online, but it turns out it had no tremolo, which I wanted. :( Had to cancel the order.

Make three tone matches. After the third, you'll know pretty much everything there is to know about it. :)
