Acoustic Guitar ?

So, i have an acoustic that i love the sound of...but it has no pick-up.
I'd like to run it through the axe, get a little compression, verb, etc, maybe even some Acoustic Cab IR's to adjust the tone from my mic.

Could I, run a mic from in front of my guitar to my mic pre...out the mic pre to input 2 on the back of the axe, and treat that as my input for some acoustic patches? Would i need to go with a DI to attenuate any signals? I searched and searched for a similar question and couldn't find one.

Any ideas if this would work?

Guitar is Seagull S6, mic is Rode NT-1, pre-amp is DBX 286A

I don't see why not. As long as you can adjust the input level from the mic pre and the axe input 2 to get the sound into the Axe at the proper level. Try it.

If you want to use input 1 you will have to change the global setting to activate it from the back. Just turn the volume down and experiment. That is half the fun!

Good luck.
