I assume it can't be done. But it is a wish nonetheless.
Found the schematic I think.
I reluctantly second this.
Why reluctantly? If I may ask?
Don't we already have this? Just play loud without headphones hehehe
I have a feedback preset somewhere... works with the exp pedal. I think @simeon or one of the other FX masters here created it.
Yes, this has already been emulated in the Axe. It's a staple of @yek 's presets.
IMO, the Freaqout doesn't sound or respond like natural feedback. It's a pitch shifter/synth, and it can't produce the bloom that you get from real cab-guitar interaction.
I don't think so. I thought it did pitch detection then introduced a high-q parametric boost at that frequency.
Yes, it does use pitch detection. Then it generates a "feedback" tone at a frequency shift that the user chooses. That tone gets faded onto your signal.
Listen to the demo where they "solo" the effect only, at 100% mix. You'll hear it right away.
Sorry, I was responding to the "synth" part of the previous post. That's why I wrote "I thought it did pitch detection" and then pitch shifts it, which is not synthesis.
All that said, Mark Day has an old Pitch Shifter -based patch on AxeChange that actually sounds pretty good and uses an expression pedal so you can bring in the "feedback" at any level you want, which allows you to be very subtle with it if you want.
You could easily attach a Control Switch (in place of Exp1) and then up the damping a bit to do what the FreqOut does with a switch.
Here ya go... saves you from paying $179 for "a TOTAL game changer", as the demo guy says.
@benvigil Thanks man. I'll try it out in the weekend.
Here's the one I was thinking of, the MD one looks *very* similar with some slight variation. It has both a compressor and pitch tied to extern 1 but the order is different and the pitch shift is a larger interval which I like.... Note that one block is not being used (in both this one and Mark's) it is a compressor and pitch/
Again, this one is not my original work but I'm sure it was posted here somewhere:
the feedback simulator was mine (mark day's and yek's are versions of it)
just owning that shit, yo
you can hear a clip here - #14
Own away, brother. You've earned it.
I may be wrong, but I don't think any of the "feedback simulator" presets shared so far are really like the FreqOut. They are great presets by great contributors (Yek, Simeon, and Mark Day), with their own flavors, but I don't think they can sound like the FreqOut (at least, I can't make them sound like it). I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think there's more to the FreqOut than what can be done with the AxeFx's pitch block. However, I haven't played with an actual FreqOut, so maybe I also wouldn't be able to make it sound as good as the demos... (some demos are only smoke and mirrors)
What do you hear that's different?
i certainly hear a difference. just different technology at work. the freqout sounds pretty good to me, imo
Agreed. Nice pedal that FreqOut. Very hard (or impossible?) to replicate this in the Axe.
