Here's my latest preset for that clean 80's DI Strat sound. It's geared more towards live because the highs are tamed a bit. Crank it through your FRFR at gig volume and it'll come alive.
A few months ago there was a request for a patch to cover Lucky Star by Madonna. I tried my best to make one, but something just didn't sit right. After tweaking a whole bunch, I finally feel like I got a basic sound down:
-Optical Compressor 2 with 9db gain reduction. Just enough to make it pop but not too squashed. I liked it better than Optical 1.
-Filter Block: Low cut at 150 to cut the boom. Then a high shelf boosting +4db above 3000k for sparkle. Then a high cut around 10,000k to eliminate stabbing highs at gig volume.
-80s Chorus
-My personal favorite Phaser block
-Studio Reverb and Digital Delay in parallel
-Scene 1 is Dry-ish, and Scene 2 is Wetter
I've been playing nothing but Madonna, MJ, Nile Rogers, and the Yellowjackets all week…so fun! Please give it a try and let me know what you think.
