70s Funk Rock w/ Rhodes, Clavinova, Mu-Tron... and the Axe on Strat and Bass

Hi guys,

after stumbling over some YT funk and Mu-Tron clips and (unrelated to that) pulling my old
synth out of the case (haven't touched it for years), inspiration caught me and I wrote and
recorded this little tune.
Guitar and bass are all direct via the Axe-Fx :)

Have fun and TURN IT UP!

Love it, it's either a 70's police series episode, or a 70's porn movie. :)

It's both.
Picture the opening scene:

Erik Estrada: "Lady, you're guilty of being dressed too sexy...."
Kitten: "Ooooh, Officer.... is that your gun or you're just happy to see me?!"

Thanks for comments, guys!

Loved the track :)

Dear Sebastian,

I put the headphones on to give the track a listen... three plays later they came off...all I can say is WOW, I really love it, the tune, the playing, the MIX-
not too heavy on the guitars as many of the other axe tracks offered up. A tip of the hat to you my friend, well done indeed !

Cheers from Sarasota, Florida

Joel

Great tune. I hate to sound negative...but...you would NEVER have gotten that song in a 70s porn flick. Not enough WAH.

OK, you got me here. I blame being born way after the 70s. ;)
Thank you nonetheless.

And thanks to Joel and Scott for the very nice comments, it's appreciated! :)

Nice to hear some jazzy 70s funky vibe. Good guitar playing and space for the other instruments.

Just watched the movie RED (Bruce Willis).
That movie has some great old-school funk music in it.

Sebas, would you be willing to share the filtered funk-bass preset?

Meanwhile listening on some other devices, I think the bass guitar could have two or three dB more in the mix. But then it would not sound that old :lol

@ Yek: sure, here are both the guitar and the bass patches.
I used only one patch for guitar, one for bass respectively, and switched FX on and off.

For the Bass touch filter sound also activate the compressor.
Naturally, the envelope controlled filter is VERY sensitive. Even using a different pickup on the bass made the filter behave very different; same goes for fingerpicking vs. using a pick.
Adjusting the threshold and gain for the envelope controller is mandatory.

My guess is that it's a 70's porn movie judging from the shape of the waveform at the end of this track.

Very cool track man.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that! I looked at the sound wave shape on the right end of the soundcloud clip and thought, "Well, that's appropriate to the vibe of the song."

Classic.
