600ohm Headphones, 300ohm Preamp

-6dB down when compared to a 300 ohm headphone set. (which is assumed to be 0 dB due to matched source/load impedances)
For some reason I feel this is a "trick" question, but I'll bite anyway.
Kinda sounds like the old question.."If a tree falls in the forest thing"

Nah, no trick. I'm contemplating the purchase of an ARX USB DI-HP, which only has a 300 ohm headphone preamp and someday I'd like to get a pair of 600 ohm headphones. -6dB from max volume should be totally awesomely usable, no?

Hey Bro,
Don't worry about the "output" impedance of 300 ohms for the Audiobox, that is for the XLR L/R outputs.
This device has a normal headphone impedance of 32 ohms. =)
Regular buds or cans will work fine.
