2:90 finally crapped out. SS power amp or repair 2:90?

Had the same thing with the Molex on a 2-90. Had it hardwired and it seemed to do the job. Got rid soon after and went back to a trusty old Mesa 295.

I beat the hell out of my 2:90 for several years after repairing it myself, worked flawless. Only other issue I had with it over the years was not getting a speaker cable plugged in all the way fried a tube or tubes on one side. Loved that amp but sadly now it just collects dust, BAWLZ!

Just a follow up.

Got the Matrix GT1000FX 2U in the mail and installed. HUGE difference in sound. I know its fairly obvious, since I'm going from outboard Power Amp coloring to relying solely on the Axe. But the cleanliness of the sound is extremely obvious. The weight difference with removing it, along with the triaxis, was through the roof. Let me say this though, to be fair with the 2:90... I think that my 2:90 was having issues prior and cannot say anything badly or ill against it as a power amp line. I cant make a negative comparison because I don't think that the 2:90 was performing at its peak. With that, if there is any blame to be made...it should be against me, the owner. I suspected this before, but I didn't want to put the cash towards sending it in to be serviced if there was a possibility that I was going to go to a SS power amp. So, ad nasum, I still love that power amp.

But damn....that Matrix sounds good. Going to get the Triaxis/2:90 duo serviced and mothballed for the time being. Time capsule it and let the great grand kids make some money off of it.
