15 Years a Fractalite

Christmas 2009: I had gifted myself a TC Electonics G-Force (I believe that’s what it was called) a week or so earlier. Then I watched a video of a guy showing how to get some U2 sounds with something called an Axe-FX Ultra. I was impressed enough to return the G-Force, and on Christmas morning began my love affair with FAS. I’ve since owned just about every iteration of every piece of hardware FAS has made (and bought a few pieces for my son as well)…not to mention nearly every bit of software.

Today the VP4–a present from my son—joined my FAS gang (along with a Friedman JEF50, the first amp I’ve owned in a while). What fun! I’m excited to see what the next 15 years will bring. Thanks for all the joy!

Congrats! It's one heck of a ride for sure! One of my biggest regrets when it comes to gear is not jumping on the Fractal train much sooner. I'll be hitting 10 years next February.

I also started with an Axe-Fx Standard in 2008 (I think).
I had such a crazy idea using a modeler live on stage. My first try was a VOX Tonelab. The result was absolutely horrible and I thought: “Well, it's 2008, there must be something better!” :grinning:

Jeez, it's crazy to think about, but I think it's been about 12 (maybe 13?) years for me too... best set of gear I've ever owned, for sure. Ironically, I think I've learned more about the practical use of amps and effects from the modeler than I have in all my dabbling with real amps and effects...

Similar story here.. Was using a midi/amp-switching rig with a G-Force in the mid 2000's with the help from Mario @ Axess Electronics . Picked up an AxeFx Standard in 2009 and have been on the train ever since . Love the product/support and technology. Thank you FAS.

Congrats! another 09er here, starting with an Ultra (then a II and a III since). Seems quite a few joined in 09

2011 for me. It was the Mark Day videos that did me in! View attachment 149715
same! he was located in a town (Cornwall) near to here in Canada (Ottawa) and I used to watch his play thrus etc even before I knew about Axfx. He was associated somehow with a music school type business there (maybe the owner - don't know). He was quite inspiring to follow at the time (and still is), to the point where I wanted to take lessons at his school but it was a bit far for me to travel to (about 1 hr). Wasn't long after that, he was posting Axfx stuff which got me gassing for it.

Damn. I don't remember when I bought my first Fractal. It was when The Ultra was their flagship box. I bought it new form one of the few official 3rd party stores. In LA or southern Cali. 2013?

I’m coming up on 7 months, haven’t touched my tube amps since.

I was always intrigued with the AxeFX gear, but couldn’t get over myself and my ‘100 Watter half stack’.

I’ve been playing guitar for almost 40 years now, solidly gigging weekend warrior from 1998 until the pandemic with 1-2 shows a month.

Lately we’ve slowed down and only play out for decent money or special occasions. We still rehearse regularly.

I had been playing stereo with 2 amps for a few years before getting my AxeFXIII this year in May. We also started using IEMs about 2 years ago. My entire motivation was to considerably downsize my rig (I was so tired of lugging two tube heads, two vertical 2X12’s and a heavy a$$ 10U rack of gear) but still have a versatile, great feeling and sounding rig.

Mission accomplished.

The forum says you joined in 2010... I'm guessing it was then?

I've been using Fractal since my Axe Fx II mkII purchased new in 2013.

The final push came from a Tom Quayle video (before I even knew of him. The opening piece of music and most importantly the sound of it made up my mind.

I’ve never looked back...

I think I've learned more about the practical use of amps and effects from the modeler than I have in all my dabbling with real amps and effects...

Absolutely agree with this!
