Activating two blocks with one footswitch?

Apologies if this has been asked before ... I use the AX8 to gig live and the overdrive I prefer (the Plus) at the gain setting I want doesn't have enough volume to match the non driven signal, even with the output cranked to 10. So I want to add a filter after the drive block to boost it by...

I have an unusual setup on my AX8 where the signal from the pickups leaves the guitar before the volume pot, going down a TRS cable, which goes to the AX8 (using the Instrument input) and hits my effects blocks, then leaves the AX8 via an effects loop FXL block (output 2 -- FX send) to go back...

Yes, you can use the guitar's onboard effects loop with the AxeFX. You accomplish that by grouping all your "pedals" together on the patch and chaining them together as shown below. They get chained to the FX Loop block as shown below, which is followed by the rest of your setup ... amp...

Studio Monitors as FRFR Stage Monitors?

I think you'd find yourself blowing a lot of tweeters and/or woofers ... I doubt a studio monitor would handle the kind of volume that happens sometimes. Regarding the Behringers, I have a pair of 2031s in my rehearsal/studio ... they sound very, very close to the K12 anyway, so I'm not sure...

What's a good FRFR speaker for backline?

You have tried the K12? It's flatter than the HPR.

    Changing over to Mono

Just unplug the XLR from the "57" and plug it into the back of the AxeFX when he's not looking.

Two FBT 12ma delivered 1/2 hour ago.

Yes ... there are two settings on the K12, flat and vocal. In addition, there are three settings for the low end; sub (rolls off lows for use with a sub), normal and deep (accentuates the low frequencies, and does it nicely). Still waiting for my 12MA's because the idiots at XXXXXXXXXXXX in...

    Throw a newbie a line

Chris, that's a great suggestion. Don't neglect to use the "Global amps" feature; dial in 10 of your favorite amp types -- Brownface, Plexi, Blackface, Wrecker, USA Lead 1, 800, 900 etc. etc. -- and save them as globals and then build off of those with cabs, effects, etc. This occurred to me...

    Best IRs for Clean Tones

It's a 2X10, my bad. We also made one of a pair of JBL E120s in a 2X12 at the same time. http://www.playingdead.net/jbls/E120_2.syx

    Best IRs for Clean Tones

Try this new JBL K110 IR that Jay just helped me capture from my own cabinet, it's a 2X12 open cab cabinet, close-miked on one speaker. It's a very clean sounding speaker with some nice warmth to it, and bell-like highs from the metal dustcaps. http://www.playingdead.net/jbls/K110_2.syx

    Authenticity of modeling recorded tones

I want the FRFR speaker to sound like the real cabinet does, in the same setting. If you're standing 10 feet away from your FRFR, it should sound like you're 10 feet away from your real cabinet. I guess for recording it would be nice to mix a far field IR with a close miked IR of the same...

What is your setup for recording direct?

AxeFX Ultra -> Presonus StudioLive 16 ch Firewire desk -> Mac Pro The StudioLive is a pretty remarkable entry level digital desk ($1660 or so street price); we are using it with the live band to record 18 tracks at our live shows, but it's also a 16 channel interface for the computer. The mic...
