Thanks for the tip! I installed Reaper and it recognizes the AxeFx III instantly. I also installed Studio One (the free version) just to see if that works as well, and it did. So at this point, I guess this is a Mixcraft issue and I have a ticket opened with Acoustica to see if they can help...

How is your Ultra/Standard holding up

Got mine as a birthday gift from my wife in 2009...that means I am never selling it. Still works great! I just got an AX8, so now I have relegated the Ultra to 4CM duty with my Mesa Roadster. The AX8 is what is now hooked into the computer for recording and playing around with.

I don't think so...I believe REVEAL will let you toggle from "Preset" to "IA". From the manual page 29: 5.5 Reveal When REVEAL is turned ON, any footswitch set up for PRESET selection (see Bank Size on p. 17) will perform its assigned IA SWITCH function instead. As of MFC-101 firmware 3.0...

Thanks @ethomas1013 ! It took some reading and re-reading before it sank in, but I was able to get what I needed by following the thread and using the GEQ blocks as "switches" to select Wah/Whammy and muting the other when not in use. I am using auto-engage now with that solution, which is fine.

Haven't been too worried about overheating as I normally don't play for more than 3 hours straight. Also, I keep the back of the rack open - it has a cover that I don't put on unless I need to transport the rack.

Success!! I guess it was those cheap Chinese USB-MIDI cables that the AxeFX didn't like. My frickin 10-year old SoundBlaster Live sound card with a "Game/MIDI port" and a "Joystick-MIDI cable" worked! haha.

Well, second try failed too even though all indications were that the transfer was successful. I just realized I have a Game Port/MIDI port on my old SB Live card. I will give that a go and see if it works.

Hmm... I bought 2 of these el cheapo ebay specials. If both of them don't work, then I guess I'm out of luck. Any recommendations for a cheap interface that works? Or is $50-$60 the cheapest I can go (Roland or M-Audio)? Yes I know it seems odd that I would spend $2000 on the AxeFx and skimp...

Ugh... It seemed too easy but it didn't work 1st time. I am about to try again. I used SendSX and I have one of those cheap USB-to-MIDI cables from ebay. It took at least 20 minutes to transfer and I wasn't around when it finished, but it looks like the AxeFX aborted because the version still...
