    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.01 Release

Yes, but there was a tiny RN I think that got missed. 25.00 New “Cygnus X-3” amp modeling: Improved preamp algorithms. Improved power amp algorithms. Improved output transformer loss modeling. Improved preamp supply voltage modeling. Nearly all amp models have been “remastered” as a result...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.01 Release

I agree that model sounds great (as do others), but what do you mean by "applied to more models"? The modeling overall has been updated, along with the majority of amps re-tuned accordingly.
  3. yyz67

You're free not believe the RNs and believe it's placebo. Or both. Or neither.

    First morning

Others could speak to using the PS100. But if you've got the time and motivation, try anything and everything while following FAS guidance on how best to set configuration for each situation. There's also an ear-brain break-in period as you use monitors / FRFR more and go back and forth...

    First morning

You mean with a SS power amp?
  6. yyz67

    First morning

Also cabs IRL are far from being point sources: nonuniform directionality with cab resonances, multiple speakers, open vs closed back and bass reinforcement depending on room placement.

Wish Vector mixer for IRs in cab block

Would be great to dynamically vary the IR mix like that.
  8. yyz67

Wish 32 Band Graphic EQ Block + 5 More Parametric bands to Amp Input EQ Page + Option to flip to 32 Band EQ at Amp input EQ Page

Probably technically easy to add to GEQ and PEQ (with attendant increases in CPU). However would also add some CPU to amp block if allowed there, which Cliff might want to reserve for amp-specific improvements.
  9. yyz67

My First Axe-Fx Weekend! Can't believe it's finally happening! (formerly 'Ordered today...')

It seems to be a largely a male-of-the-species interest, disposition and preoccupation with the pursuit of 'perfection', 'performance', and 'quality' in all of its forms. Only a dude could sit there for hours and hours and hours obsessing over the slightest, finest and subtlest details that the...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Release

I hadn't seen this before (never on TGP). Helpful to know! So reading all of this info (thanks @rzjd @DJD100), each amp's bias is set by CC as a optimization of linearity and no crossover distortion, typically leaning on the warmer end compared to amps IRL. There could still be a range of...

  12. yyz67

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Release

@DJD100 I think we're in basic agreement. Coolest (if possible) would be an added dial showing that ratio, tied to the current relative grid bias voltage dial... so users could use either as desired.
  13. yyz67

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Release

I assume you're kinda joking, but might actually work given the model accuracy (if the preamp and other circuitry doesn't introduce that as well). However, as Cliff said the bias dial is a relative bias voltage change. I imagine all amps are already biased 'appropriately' based on (Cliff's or...
  14. yyz67

[not possible] Okay, I'll say it... a second Amp block!

Great point, but also FAS has a certain vision or mission regarding accuracy. If in all devices allowed settings of 1/2 (= 2x amps) and 1/4 (= 4x amps) oversampling, and there were users who didn't mind the degradation, it could be a win in terms of sales. (Edit: Of course processing...
  15. yyz67

Would it make sense to display that as a derived 'FYI' value? Or add it as an advanced parameter appropriately tied to the normalized grid bias?

Not necessarily... but they have gone thru some internal beta testing. Depends on what you consider an "issue". Right. Just considering the possibility and utility of a hard digital limit even if it can't limit actual SPLs. 0 dBFS is the digital limit by construction but it seems like hitting that for longer than a certain short time period can translate to pain or injury (or equip damage) in practice...

A few question for those in the know: @GlennO, @Bakerman, @mr_fender, @Rex Regarding the OP accidentally entering a large gain in the signal chain (e.g. +20dB instead of -20dB), this might peg the internal signal at 0 dBFS, but it can never go higher, correct? (This is ignoring the actual...

If you are still unsure on your unit, you can prove it to yourself that they are different or the same. Send pink noise or a freq sweep (synth) through them both at the same time (no amp) and do a relative tone match between them (make sure mic pos and all other settings are identical).

Subjective responses. For some it's incrementally better, for others it's radical. Agree... @Bertotti, if you do get an FM, I recommend not reading AF3 threads as it seems to invariably generate FOMO for the FM folks who get very impatient with them getting the same goodies very shortly...

  32. yyz67

    FM9 Firmware Version 7.00 public beta (1)

If you backed up your presets, that is merely an offline copy on your computer. They remain on the unit. If you didn't actually remove them (or delete them) from the unit, there is nothing to "reload" -- your presets remain as they were saved (in previous FW). However, per the release notes...
