Contacted support yesterday......hope it is an easy fix, dont look like it though. Looks like I might be on hold till mon 9th as they are on vacation for the holidays.......anyone ever send your unit back without an RA#? Would be nice to have it on its way and save a few days out of commission.

I started a thread today about the increased CPU usage. I had a patch that I had to take out some blocks to stop getting error codes. My axe uses 9.7-10% in idle mode on preset 383 BYPASS! When I playback audio it raises it to 11%. It raises 5-6% on playback with my heavy loaded patches. Not...

Ok thanks for the tips to make it work better, but it still looks like the more updates we get, the less amount of blocks we can use in one patch. You mentioned the global gate (I have not used that yet) is this new in 5? I changed nothing on the patch....

As I mentioned I set up the Ultra simular, not exact but close, and it seemed ok. So maybe the G2 modeling takes twice the power of G1? The axe2 is twice the power so it would def have to take quite a bit more if not twice.

So there is something that has not been mentioned that I am aware of. It takes 5-6% more CPU power to playback through the axe2!!! What would the cause......DA Conversion? Metering? The USB was already hooked up before I upgraded.

Recording Latency

I was thinking the same thing. Is it not the same case for the axefx2? I mean if the 2 xlr outs (out 1) are connected to the studio monitors and you mute the track in pro tools (from usb input) are you not monitoring straight from the axefx as if just playing through it?

S/PDIF is not really consumer grade it is the rca cable that is. If your using S/PDIF use a S/PDIF cable. Do not use a standard rca cable at the very least use the yellow video rca.

If you are good with a computer and setting it up to run as a DAW then Steinberg MR816. If I had to choose an interface with onboard pres and was not able to use my API mic pres it would be the Steinberg fo sho!!!!

Did u pull the lid and look at the jack? Some Ultras have been known to have the guitar input come loose. Make sure its connected inside and tighten the nut on the input with a socket.

Fair enough! From what Ive read on other posts and on this one "IF" I do upgrade I will most likely wait for the coupon. Its hard enough to justify when money is tight on that price vs the 2600 price and Ultra prices are wayyy down.

Cool thanks everyone. It would be nice to have the editing via usb as I utilize my midi for other tasks while recording and like to edit on the computer vs front panel. I have never had a problem with using my sound cards midi to use axe edit or update just not very stable while having a session...
