    Wish Boss Blues Driver

Just adding my +1 to this. I'm happy to offer my original Keeley-modded BD-2 to help with the modeling. I've missed this in the Axe-Fx for a while; especially so recently with the other Andy Timmons related additions.

That makes sense, and I was expecting to use it as well. Any idea what would cause the massive volume change? The LB-2 starts lighting up way more in the louder position too.

    X-Load Ground Lift

Received my X-Load LB-2 today. I must say, hats off to @FractalAudio and team. It sounds... like my amps. I do have a question though, just to make sure I'm not going to hurt anything. Jam Track Player For Kids?

My 7 year old son is just getting into guitar, and he's progressed to the point where he's starting to play along with full songs. Lots of good suggestions here. I've used this service several times with great...

    Implemented Cali 76 Comp Pedal

The JFET Compressor model recently added to the Axe-Fx III definitely has a similar flavor to the Cali76 pedal(s). I wouldn't say it sounds the same, but I'm not sure the model was meant to be the Cali76 specifically anyway. I'm not saying it's better or worse, just a bit different. It certainly...

Smoother high gain sounds with SS amp

Yeah sorry, I should have said amp block there. I don't have any set rules or magic settings - just start subtle and adjust until it sounds better. I tend to go for a lower frequency setting with gentler compression vs the opposite. I also adjust in small increments over several takes, and make...
  14. OmegaZero

Smoother high gain sounds with SS amp

I usually start with high cut in the cab block and that typically does the trick. Sometimes I end up in a weird middle ground where the high cut works for some passages but is too much for other parts. If that's the case I'll set the high cut as far down as I can, then use the MBC to gently take...
  15. OmegaZero

    Implemented Cali 76 Comp Pedal

Yeah. Any version of the Cali76 will work on just about anything, it just depends what controls you want. The Compact Deluxe is the most flexible version with separate attack & release controls which is why I use it for more general things.
  16. OmegaZero

Smoother high gain sounds with SS amp

As others have said, it sounds like you need high cut in either the amp or cab block. Another option might be the multiband compressor - I've had good luck using the MBC to tame shrill frequency build up without killing the high end outright.

    Implemented Cali 76 Comp Pedal

For what it's worth, this has been asked for many times (see threads here, here, here, etc.). I actually had the opportunity to talk with Matt about it in person over the summer. I know I'm late to this party, but for what it's worth I went through this a while back (see threads here and here). In the end I settled on a pair of second-hand Aguilar GS 112 cabs that I use with my Matrix power amp. No disrespect to any of the FRFR solutions I tried, but it's hard to get...

    Speaker Opinions For A 1x12

So was it a stupid question, or did I ask it in a stupid way? ;) I'll definitely check that out. In the past I haven't typically liked the Vox thing - the high end always came off a bit harsh. With as much as my taste has been changing though I should definitely revisit that.

    Speaker Opinions For A 1x12

My main cab is an oversized 2x12 with v30s, powered by a Matrix GT1000, and usually run in stereo (or wet/dry, but that's a different topic). For what it does, I love it. Over the last year or so I've been drifting from prog rock / metal into more bluesy rock territory though, and for a lot of...

    Lost Sound on Input 1?

Yeah, all the other inputs and outputs worked fine. On the advice of support, I went searching inside the box for loose connections. Terminal Block For Fast PUP Swaps?

This may be a silly question, but are there any issues with using a small terminal block to make pickup changes easier? I asked Andy about this while we were talking in the pub at one point. The newer, 2-button @ pedal is his go-to for mid gain (without boost) to higher gain (with built-in 808-style boost engaged). The older, 4-knob style @ pedal shares a loop with the Muffuletta and is not usually used...

    Drive Block Status

At one point I tried using a clean amp block (Band-Commander, Sag@0) as a clean/trebble boost for an amp model (Plexi 100W NRML). After a bit of tweaking that actually sounded better than what I was getting with drive blocks. I got the idea from the Kingsley tube-based pedals. It was a fun...

I have to agree with this. For the last few months I've been using Pedal Genie Pro and a well-stocked local shop who allows lending to try out drive pedals. Drive Block Status

This is how I felt until recently. Personally, I always thought such pedals were a fix for people who just didn't have the right amp to get the sound they wanted. Fishman Fluence?

I really dislike the feel of EMGs. Same for other active pickups I've tried (Duncan Blackouts, etc.). I think the reason I get on so well with the Fluence Townsend set is that the magnets are degaussed. Even on the "active humbucker" voice to me they still feel like my passive Duncans. I...

    Fishman Fluence?

I hear you on this - I was concerned as well. I will say this though - I have these in two of my guitars now, one of them for several months, and I've still never needed to recharge. One of them even has a PowerBridge + PowerChip preamp running off the same single battery pack and even that...

    Fishman Fluence?

I've replaced several sets of Duncan JB/59 pickups with the Fluence Devin Townsend set in my guitars. Implemented 1176-Style FET Compressor (Cali76) Model

Also worth repeating - the Cali76 is in loads of bass rigs too. I'd bet this will be as highly lauded as the addition of the Darkglass was by the Fractal bass community. As much as I love the Cali76 on guitar, I just can't play bass without it anymore.
  44. OmegaZero

Implemented 1176-Style FET Compressor (Cali76) Model

Agreed. I think the thing that makes the Cali76 so successful is the dry (i.e. blend/mix) control. And yeah, having two 1176 instances is absolutely unbeatable for slide. Just ask Lowell George.
  45. OmegaZero

Implemented 1176-Style FET Compressor (Cali76) Model

Not presuming to tell Cliff how to do this, but perhaps this is a better approach. After all, the Cali76 is a [very successful] attempt to make a classic 1176 unit into a pedal format. Given how exceptional Fractal is at things like this, perhaps starting with the original would yield better...

It would be great to have a compressor type modeled after the Origin Effects Cali76. Seems like something is different here. I'm currently at 24% FC Global Brightness and the mini screens are still noticeably brighter than the main screen.
