    Are buttons a must

IMO the FM9 is the sweet spot product in the current lineup where you are not left wanting for more processing power or footswitching. I'd go with that.

Why is it necessary to apply high/lo pass filters to cabs?

You will have a lot of problems with this because the sound you hear is the sound bouncing around in the room, and heavily high cut by simply your ears being much higher than where a close mic would be. The easiest way to simulate "cab in the room" is just adding more high cut, but it will still...

Best poweramp for Axe III (Goal: LOUDDDDD)

I think he has talked about it in some of Fryette's live streams. Apparently their users would not typically adjust those controls much if at all so they thought, why not just put the trimmers where they are most convenient in the circuit for minimal noise and just provide a front panel toggle...

I disagree with that. I've owned an XSonic Airstep MIDI controller which basically did it like that and it does not work. ANYONE USE THIS IN A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT?

Stop insisting on using USB for this, it's going to require aggregate devices via ASIO4All on Windows and that can introduce more problems than it solves. Just hook up the Axe-Fx via SPDIF or analog I/O to your preferred audio interface.

    MarkV power amp only modeling

You would just have Amp 1 w/ poweramp modeling on for the dry and wet paths going to studio monitors and Amp 2 w/ poweramp modeling off for dry into real poweramp and cab. Yes, a more neutral poweramp would be better but honestly for moderate volumes the full amp model into a clean guitar...

    MarkV power amp only modeling

You could probably use a Mixer block after the Amp block and expression on that, don't remember if it supports modifiers or not. In this scenario you just use the Mark V model on the Axe-Fx and then run that into "wet only", "dry only" and "dry into real poweramp return and cab" paths. Since...

    MarkV power amp only modeling

Sounds to me you could simply do this: Guitar -> Axe-Fx 3 front input IN 1 -> Pre-fx -> OUT 3 -> MK V:25 input -> Real cab IN1 -> Pre-fx -> Mark V model -> Cab sim -> Post-fx -> OUT 1 Doing 4CM seems unnecessary when you have great Mark series models in the Axe-Fx. There's IMO no point in...

Something like this is what I'd love to see at least for the next gen. Computer and tablet editors could easily replace the front panel. Dynacab Pack Purchasers - Looking for Feedback

Because I know how it works from other products (mostly plugins) with similar functionality, as well as from micing real cabs. 360 degree speaker cone area just opens up more "now I need to figure out if this or that side sounds better" complication I don't really need. Dynacab Pack Purchasers - Looking for Feedback

Yes, but for my use those don't make any real difference. The ones already in the unit cover a lot of range and adding more mics and more positions is just extra stuff I don't need. I'd be more interested in seeing cabs that are not available, e.g maybe some Dumble/Two Rock style cab with...

Dynacab Pack Purchasers - Looking for Feedback

One reason why I have NOT purchased any DynaCabs is because there's no new ones that I don't have in my Fractal unit already, and the extra speaker placement and mic options don't do much for me. IMO if you have a Fractal unit, the stock DynaCabs already do a ton so there's not a huge need for...

Why do some IR's and DynaCab's seem to compress more than others?

Try turning off the "link speaker impedance curve" option and set the amp to something. Then try swapping Dyna-Cabs and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, then it's basically different speaker impedance curves reacting with the amp.

    Game changer for dialing presets!

I used Sonarworks to measure my room, then loaded the correction into their VST plugin, loaded sweeps to a track and then made an IR. You can find tutorials how to make IRs. Not sure how you would do this with other tools. I have a hard time recommending Sonarworks because it's been so buggy...

    Game changer for dialing presets!

I have just built my presets around having an IR Loader block for Out1, I mainly use it for headphone correction. Then I just load the correction from the library. I do agree a global IR option would be nice...but fat chance of Fractal providing it since it's a pretty niche feature. The ARC...

    Game changer for dialing presets!

It depends heavily on what the starting point looks like. In my previous apartment where for aesthetic reasons the only "room treatment" was things like...

    Game changer for dialing presets!

Sleek but the latency is like 4ms which is IMO way too much for something like this. I wish they upgraded it to something closer to 1ms. The more IRs are used, the more realistic the amp/cab in the room sound is

I think your assumption here is that 1 IR = 1 mic/cab. But a single IR can be 100 cabs/mics blended into one if whatever software you use to do that is capable of it. For example the ML Sound Lab MIKKO plugin can mix up to 9 mics/cabs where each mic can be a different model, position etc on a...

Do we really need channels and scene controllers?

  27. laxu

The more IRs are used, the more realistic the amp/cab in the room sound is

The mistake is thinking that micing a cab is even meant to reproduce the sound in the room. Miced tone is it's own thing and usually the goal is to fit a mix instead. While mixing multiple mics together can give a bigger, fuller sound, that might be too much in a mix.

Isn't the override desired in this case? It does not meant that the values you saved in your preset are gone, they just won't be used. If you rely on custom speaker impedance curve settings, you simply don't use the global option. Sure, having a "custom value" setting in the global options...

Speaker Impedance Curve - I can't get it to work today

    Amp in the Room?

IR as a cab sim is basically a filter with massively more granularity than what you can achieve with traditional filters or EQ. Speaker Impedance Curve - I can't get it to work today

    Legacy Vs. Dyna-Cabs

Dynamic 1 or 2 + Ribbon. Fairly close distance, offset from center, you probably end up with fairly similar position for both. Wish Double Click on Presence = 5

The FW already has this - the initial settings for any block with a particular model loaded are the default values. At the same time, if the control does nothing for most of its travel, and was even replaced by a different solution by the company who made the real amp, can it be said that it was a deliberate choice rather than just a mistake? It's not even a "happy accident" where the wrong components...

Anyone Else Find Dyna-Cabs Overly Bright?

Let me squash your dreams. You can map 16 external controllers to almost any parameter on Fractal. However... You can no longer adjust the mapped parameters using the front panel or Axe-Edit. There is no sensible reason why it has to be this way - "last value in from any source determines...

    An external programmable knob(s) tweaker

Yeah that's a good approach as well. I suppose this would be basically like MIDI controllable per preset Performance view? An external programmable knob(s) tweaker

If you do some streaming it might have value but otherwise I'd steer clear. It's not a bad unit, there's just not much in the way to utilize the knobs on it. There is a MIDI...

    Second Turbo...

Easiest way to hook them up would probably be running SPDIF from Axe-Fx A to Axe-Fx B, with B connected to the way you have it now. Otherwise you will need something like a mixer to be able to setup which output devices are in use.
