"A/B" block workaround?

Goal: to have one footswitch change between a COMPRESSOR block or a DRIVE block at the front of my signal chain. I thought I could replicate an A/B box at the front with the Feedback Snd/Rtn blocks but alas, they are not controller-assignable. What other way might I be overlooking? Thanks! -JR

Bass AxeFX?

Cab sim is necessary if you want the sound of an SVT 8x10. IMO, the Bass POD sounds like a toy compared to the AxeFx SVT.

Marshall/G System user now torn after hearing AXE

Having owned a TSL rig, a JMP-1, a Rivera, a Bogner, a Budda, and some others, the AxeFX is one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard. If all it did was the preamp & power amp modeling, I'd be happy running it through my Carvin power amp & 410 cab over anything else I've owned.

Axe-FX makes a great "plug-in"

I am mixing some power punk tracks that where the bass was recorded direct through an Avalon DI. I thought I'd hook up my AxeFX via SPDIF IO and reamp it through the SVT w/ 8x10 mic'd w/U67. Totally amazing! It sits so nicely in the mix now. Thanks, Fractal Audio Systems! :mrgreen:

Wow... changed the way I'm using my Axe just a touch...

Axe-FX as outboard eq/comp/limiter/ec

if you want to use the AxeFx digitally, you're stuck with 48kHz. No 96. I personally think the converters are of such quality that you don't lose anything by going analog, assuming you have decent converters for your DAW.

today was a marshall day.

To each his own...my TSL sounded MEAN. Only reason I sold it was because of the awful relay switching which caused me to lose the punch when I kicked on the amazing crunch - replaced it with a Rivera Knucklehead 100. Don't really miss any of them anymore with my Axe-FX though!

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!! In the Tempo menu there is a parameter called "AUTO DELAY" Apparently that causes a new Tap Tempo to engage the Delay block! Go figure! :lol: Mystery solved!!

I'm not sure I follow exactly what you're saying, tubetonez. One of my presets, for example, has all effects bypassed. If I step on the delay button, it turns the delay on, but still if I hit the tap tempo button, it will also turn the delay on. Not sure if that addresses what you're talking...

No Stomp for the stompbox!!! *grin*

What about something like the Akai MPD24 pad controller? It would be pretty convenient to just tap one of those big pads when you want to change something. A lot easier than trying to depress a stomp button (especially the metal ones).

I posted about this elsewhere, but it makes more sense here. I'm getting horrible aliasing zipper noise with the wah. Is there not some kind of anti-aliasing for continuous controllers? Am I doing something wrong or is this just how wahs sound in the AxeFX (due to only having 128 steps)?

Hmmm.... not so sure about the Orange and Hiwatt similarities. I know for a fact that a Rockerverb sounds nothing like an OR120 (in my experience with each). And so it remains on my wish list. ;)

I'd love to see a Super Reverb and an OR120. I'm kinda close with the Brownface with the Bassman cab, but it's not quite a Super. UPDATE: Yeah, the Tweed + Bassman cab is closer still to the Super. :) Hurray! I was mislead at first by the "Tweed" name.
