    It always gets like this with new firmware, especially when something is hinted at. Speculation runs rampant. People lose sleep. It drops and it's the greatest thing that's ever happened to guitar tone. Then it dies down until the next hint is dropped and it starts all over again.

    This is, to me, the most "difficult" aspect of the Axe-FX. When you have an amp and pedals. You learn how things react over time and how to adjust for sound differences in different situations. Frequent updates make this much more difficult.

    Need some advice on using different guitars with my Axe

    I personally find that presets in the Axe don't sound very good when I switch pickup types. I would suggest making a new preset for the coil tap setting - if you want the same basic tone, just copy the preset and tweak the amp settings. The input trim will bring the volume up.

    A lot of fuzz pedals sound different in an effects loop vs straight in from the guitar. It has to do with the high impedance of the guitar's pickups as opposed to the low impedance signal coming out of the loop.

    The fretboard is fixed, but I'm pretty sure the neck has a higher radius at the higher frets. The neck is also a bit offset.

    Great tone and playing. I have always been a bit mystified by the Pride tone. Yours sounds spot-on to Edge's live tone, but there is something about that original tone that is just razor sharp. It's punchy but incredibly clean and articulate at the same time. Very good job.

    It will likely be some time before a major update comes that requires a significant amount of tweaking, given the recent change to G3 modeling. Incremental firmware releases have also been progressively easier to tweak, IMO.

    I modified the above patch, specifically for Shine on You Crazy Diamond, using the Scene controller feature to shift the pitch. Please note all chords sound 1/2 step down. Scene 1 is a Gm drone. Scene 2 is Dm, and Scene 3 is Cm. Scene 4 adds delay and vibe on the guitar signal for the big arpeggio.

    The look is pretty cool IMO - multiple landscapes, snow, water, desert. It looks very JJ Abrams, kind of like the Star Trek reboot. It is a testament to the power of the original trilogy that there is so much interest in this, given the debacle of episodes 1-3.

    Use a tape echo delay block - set up the expression pedal to drop the motor speed from 1 to 0.5. This will drop the pitch an octave. You need to also set up the delay feedback so it goes into self-oscillation. i use another pedal to increase the master feedback and the individual feedback...

    Not to my ears, whatsoever. I think this sits in a band mix very well. I have never had anyone tell me my tone is "thin". I have tried it with more bass, and it sounds boomy. This is FRFR.

    Maybe a little more information on what you are trying to do would be helpful. You can change the bank size on the MFC to 10 or even 15 and have instant access to those presets. Increasing the bank size decreases the number of switches available for control changes.
