Help! Noise issue with new FM3

Question: Can you set the gate threshold so high you can't even open it? That'll tell you you're manipulating the gate parameters toward a useful end. Try the classic gate. Did you say what gate type you're running?

Midi effect bypass - double tap ?

I can't really offer help other than to say I got similarly frustrated with midi controlling the looper and when I mentioned it they said it might be a bug. I kinda shelved it knowing they are constantly updating and there were bigger issues out there.

Ok to use XLR Y cables on output 1 L&R?

This would not attenuate the signal. You could Y the outputs like he first described without issue, though a ground lift might come in handy if you experience a ground loop between the monitor & FOH systems. CLRs (and most powered speaker solutions) have their own level controls so that's not...

    Yet another Looper question

Trying to trigger the looper via midi and I can't quite grok what's going on with the triggering. If there's someplace this is documented/discussed please point me there. Prevent FM3 Output knobs from moving

I just think it looks like an afterthought, kinda tacked-on, out beyond the rails where it’s prone to take a beating or just get accidentally changed going in/out of a bag, indicators sloping away from you. Look, it ain’t gonna keep me from buying it, LOL, but it struck me as an odd choice.
  19. S

I think the output knob placement is the most disappointing design choice in the FM3, but I guess I can overlook it.

Pod x3 vs axe fx for 80s pop di tone

I'd stick with what you've got. Compressors are one of the Axe's weakest links IMHO. Although, they are more studioesque than stompbox so that might be something you'd like. Not really any mic pre emulations in the Axe beyond the tube pre. Sounds like you'd under utilize the Axe.

Poll MFC vs LiquidFoot vs Something else

From the midi spec, "MIDI is an asynchronous serial interface. The baud rate is 31.25 Kbaud (+/- 1%). There is 1 start bit, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit (ie, 10 bits total), for a period of 320 microseconds per serial byte." To be midi is to be 32Kbaud. That's slow in today's gigabit ethernet...

Poll MFC vs LiquidFoot vs Something else

MIDI is slow. There's nothing instantaneous about it, LOL! Now, it's fast enough for most music control purposes but it's far from instantaneous. Majority won't notice any lag under simple use cases. I'm not bustin yer chops, but it's not instantaneous.

XLR outs buzz when Axe is turned off?

Nothing strange here at all. Unpowered unit leaves the output ICs in an indeterminate state. The AxeFx isn't buzzing or humming, it's off! The buzz or hum comes from the balanced connection of the gear you left on being connected to something it shouldn't be. It's good practice to turn your amps...

    VOODOO LABS

I'd keep the AxeFx effect bypass CC numbers at their defaults. You can see what those are on the I/O menu MIDI tab. You need to program the Ground Control Pro's IA switches to send the proper CC numbers. Bottom of page 11 and top of page 12 in the manual here...

W/D/W Setup but Output 2 Hums

You've created a ground loop. Pretty common with more complex setups with unbalanced connections. The safest way to solve the issue is to transformer isolate one of the amps. The most logical amp to isolate is your V3M. There are a few commercially available transformers that will do the trick...

    BOSS HM-2

IMHO those qualities are more the result of a good mix engineer than a specific pedal. Maybe the appeal...

axe fx 2 as an interface live on stage with ableton?

Axe FX looper 4 cable method issue

I doubt it. It's probably just something we're missing. Isn't there a tab on some menu to see all your controller assignments? I'm not near my Axe right now. Post the destination preset if you can.
  88. S

    Auto wha issue!

Sounds like the preset is switching before the controller assignments or something weird like that. I'd just turn the Autoengage off if you're not using it and it solves your issue. Probably a bit of an unforeseen bug or something. I'm sure Cliff will fix it if it makes it onto his radar.
