TubeAmp vs AxeUltra = my test

Does that mean that you bypassed the power tube section of the amp then? Did you use only the preamp section of the the amp going into the Axe-Fx or did you use the speaker out signal with a powerbrake? Did you plug the guitar straight into the real tube amp or did it go through the Axe-Fx...

TubeAmp vs AxeUltra = my test

Nolik, how exactly did you set up your experiment? Did you make an IR of your amp first and then use that? What real amp/cab/mic did you use and what virtual amp/cab/mic did you use on the Axe-Fx. I'm sorry if I've missed something here but I didn't see anything of how you did this test...

output 1 knob crackles when raising volume?

Yes, it happens on my Input 1 (not on the Outputs, though). When the unit's on and I turn the imput 1 and adjust for the gain of the guitar I'm using I get a crackling scratching noise that sounds like a dirty pot but more digital. Maybe it's not there with the noise gate slightly activated...

    Scratchy Wah

It happens on the Standard/Ultra as well. Can't remember how I fixed it but it was pretty simple. It's something to do with the digital "quickness" and you could delay it by a few milliseconds and then it was smooth without the digital scratch noise. I'm sure someone here will help you fairly...

    How's The Tone Coming Along?

Is there a reason that both guitars are mixed left of centre? It seems to create some kind of phasing issues. Maybe pan them both left and right for a fuller sound?

A couple of live tunes with the Ultra.

Great T.O.P. cover and great tone for going straight to the board. I take it that there's a bit of bleed from the 2x12s or is it just all direct? Either way, you've got a great top end sizzle on the lead of Horses. ...and tell the drummer that his snare drum is AWESOME!!!

The best comparison I remember was someone that had a real JTM-45 (if I remember right) and recorded their rig with a cab and mic. This reminded me a bit of SRV: YouTube - ‪Axe-FX II Demo 2‬‏ I like the bite of the strings, the high end gristle and the chime as the strings ring out. Might not be exactly SRV, but it sounds really good to me and I would have never known it wasn't a Fender strat through a real tube amp.
