Friedman smallbox plexi channel would be great

The plexi channel on the Friedman Small Box is a sort of "castrated plexi". It has a Master Volume (bad) and some snubbers on the plate and cathode resistors limiting precious high frequencies and overtones (very bad). Without getting too technical about it: enjoy the Plexi models we have...

    professional touring experience with AX8

If you are used to mic your amp off-stage and going IEM the AX8 will perform egually good if not better. Keep it simple: 2-3 Amp sims and the same IR for all. Choose the IR accordingly, this will be your main sound. Keep your sound mid-focused applying low and hi cuts (the cab block has them...

LED in expression pedal powered from AX8

The resistor would be there to limit current not voltage... but since my guessing is the AX8 is not able to provide 20 or even 10mA you do better omit it. The led I posted is the only one that works, it will not be insanely bright but just bright enough. No problem running a 3V led at 5V at...

LED in expression pedal powered from AX8

Yes it´s possible but you need a very bright led and no resistor. You have to put it in series like this: tip - led - switch - ground - sleeve. I´ve had luck with this led: http://www.taydaelectronics.com/leds/round-leds/3mm-leds/green/led-3mm-green-water-clear-super-bright.html

    Anyone try this?

I do it all the time using the AX8 alone and one of my real amps. I managed to separate the stereo FX Loop into 2 independent ones. I call it 6CM.. 4 cables method plus line out from real amp into the AX8 back again for IR and then to FOH. No need to mic my cab anymore. I´ve to start a thread...

Thinking About buying ax8 or fx8

Go for the AX8 you will not regret it. It offers so much more and it works like a charm in front of a clean amp. Just do like philipacamaniac suggested using Output 2 and the "12dB Boost/Pad". The hiss issue is only audible in front of a pretty distorted amp and it´s actually not that bad...

First recording session with 7.01 Video

Thanks! Are you using a strat? Which pickups? I´ve Suhr FL Classics on mine and they are pretty vintage in output, I use to roll the Tone pot at 7 all the time. In the first 30 seconds of the clip the Volume pot is rolled back as well, then I max it out. Make sure the Bright switch on the Amp...

First recording session with 7.01 Video

Many thanks guys! The preset is nothing really special. Just the stock 1987X Treble model into the Triptik 1x12" cab. Gain on 6, Middle and Presence pushed a bit. Stereo Delay and Studio Reverb. The Triptik cab is not what a Plexi is calling for but it works for me. It offers some nice thick...

You can achieve Scene 1/8 Toggle if you assign an external switch to Scene Select. It´s an hidden feature and almost the same as Scene Toggle 1/2. Questions about AX8 v FX8

The AX8 works good in 4CM and it´s pretty neutral considering the double AD/DA conversion involved. It only adds some HISS in front of a distorted amp, nothing you can actually ear in a live environment but it´s there. In front of a clean amp it´s pretty quiet. HUM can be present if not using...

Really At A Loss With v7

Sorry guys but I really dont get it. Every firmware upgrade is a step forward imho, making each amp model closer to its real counterpart. When was the last time you played a "real" amp? V7 amps are spot on! If you dont like a model after an upgrade move to another one! You have got so many...

    Tip for Matrix users

If you have not access to a real amp to make comparisons no way you are going to feel the difference. Sorry. Our ears get used to everything we play and it becomes very hard if not impossible to make decisions based on pure air. Not to mention if you use to play at home alone you are likely...
  29. Enzo Sutera

    Tip for Matrix users

You´re absolutely right. To put it in simpler terms: the tweaked settings let the model react with the actual cab in the same way the real amp would do. As pointed out the effect is pretty apparent as you compare the model to the real counterpart.
  30. Enzo Sutera

    Tip for Matrix users

The GT800 is definitely flatter than the GT1000/GM50.. I dont have mine anymore, I liked the GM50 transient attack a tad more. Tip for Matrix users

Yes I do. I dont use many amp models thought. A classic Fender clean, an hot rodded Marshall kind of tone, sometimes a Vox.. it´s all about recreating the real amp feel. Sure you can match EQ say an AC15 to emulate the Badger frequency response.. but dynamic is something different and we are speaking here about an amp that is way more dynamic, organic than a Vox. Not to mention its design with the dual Gain pot allows to set it from sparking clean to blistering...

I´m sure Matrix will chime in with better details.. anyway I didnt try the GT1000, but it should be "voiced" as the GM. The GT800 is voiced more on the flat side and has a softer attack. It´s not a night & day difference but it´s there. That being said the biggest difference is the amount of...

Enzo Sutera - AxeFxII & Matrix GM50 - heavier lead tone

Thanks! No problem at all. The Tonespotter with its 100.7dB sensitivity is a loud speaker, I mean a very loud one! Great speaker for II + Matrix GM50 + 1x12 (any options BESIDES the EV12L)?

The Jensen Tornado is a great speaker. You can get very nice clean sounds. Anyway I was not impressed by the Marshall sims with it.. it sounded somewhat too clinic to my ears. The Tonkerlite is a good compromise for clean and dist sounds imho.
  82. Enzo Sutera

Great speaker for II + Matrix GM50 + 1x12 (any options BESIDES the EV12L)?

Believe me.. the Tonkerlite sounds nothing like the V30. The V30 is way more bright and scooped on the mids, like almost any Celestion (the CL80 too). If we are speaking neutral speakers simply forget Celestions. I attached 2 IRs of my 1x12" cab so that you can compare the Tonkerlite and the...

If you are looking for a powerful speaker that will stay pretty neutral I can suggest you the Eminence Tonkerlite. Well.. a Silverface 73 Twin isnt likely modelled in the Axe (what a luck), the Axe is supposed to model a Blackface AB763 circuit (what a luck). Both amps are reacting in a very different way, the 73 has way more "headroom", a Master Volume added, is biased differently, has different trafos...

no need to be sarcastic.. since Matrix managed to pack 800 Watt in 1U rack space, I´d not be surprised to see a 200 Watt solution packed in a small enclosure you can store in your gigbag pocket. Being a working musician that uses to fly a lot, something like this would save me many headaches...
