Reverb settings not saving with Reaper session?

I'm finding that the plug in settings are not saved with the DAW session. I can save presets, and modify settings, but whenever I open a session, the plugin always reverts back to "REC Room A". I'm on the latest version of Reaper on PC. Does this happen to anyone else?

I've read the same. Here's a study suggesting too many choices is exhausting. I can relate - after a lengthy romp in the advanced tabs I have no idea what I'm listening for anymore and I have to walk away. The times I play the best is when I hit something quick and don't tweak much.

    Ownhammer ultrares

I think I've got this figured out - the Cab Pack 3 from fractal is the UltraRes Studio Mix Libraries from Ownhammer, minus the tube amp created IRs. There is an non-compete agreement that prevents Ownhammer from releasing UltraRes IRs directly,so there should be an update from Ownhammer that...

About Matching Your Cabinet's Resonant Frequency

Ok, just tried this. I'm running a Carvin 1540L into a Mesa 3/4 back with a V30. V30 specs: Resonance frequency, 75Hz DC resistance 7.3ohms Celestion tells me at resonance the impedance is around 100ohm Following Cliff's formula, I get 20*log10(100/7.3) = 22.73. Divided by 2.4 = 9.47...

I have one and use it with a traditional cab, it works just fine. The only thing I don't like about it is that the fan blows from the rear to the front. Not a deal breaker by any means, it works just great with the AxFX.

For bedroom player, CLR Wedge or Cab?

A FRFR cab like the CLR (using cab sims) will give you the sound of a miked cabinet. A guitar cab sounds like well, a guitar cab in the room. They are different things, so keep that in mind.

    Guitar Cab vs FRFR

Oh, I don't think it's lacking at all - I think it's amazing! I actually prefer to hear on stage what's going out the FOH. My point was that a FRFR setup sounds different from a live cab, so expect those differences and choose what works for you.
  20. fredster

    Guitar Cab vs FRFR

Perfectly stated, and very important to keep in mind. I feel the majority of complaints about the AxeFX come from folks expecting FRFR to sound like a cab in the room. With the right expectations, it's an amazing tool however you use it.

    Cab question

Restrictive? Heck no brudda! With 4CM I get it all! I love the sound of my amp, and 4CM gets me great effects in front of it and in the loop. If I want to go off the reservation and work up something completely different, I've got the amp sims to play with. The only thing I don't have is FRFR on...
  22. fredster

    Cab question

I'll second what RDH says. IRs are more appropriate for use with a full range speaker, and represent the sound of a miked cabinet. Generally that doesn't translate too well with a cab tuned for guitar, and works better with a PA-type speaker for live use or studio monitors when recording. I too...

Blanket covered muffled with 4CM vs. non 4CM presets

Using 4CM with a tube amp? I do this also (Mesa LSS). I think the difference is that when using your amps power section with an amp sim, there's no presence control at the physical amp (I have a presence control, but it seems to be before the fx loop). Tube power amps seem to be a bit brighter...

    IR capture volume?

Hey folks, When you capture cabs, how loud are you running the test signal? I don't normally play very loud, so the few caps I did were at home volume versus gig volume. Tried some loud ones too, and they both sound ok, but is there a recommendation for IR capture volume?

    FRFR vs. Amp/Cab

FRFR uses cab IRs which by nature attempt to reproduce the sound of a miked cab. Not that that's bad, but you should have the right expectation. IMO, you 'll never get an FRFR solution to sound like a cab in the room. Each has their place - for gigs I use a small monitor so I can hear basically...

Studio speaker/s or a tube amp for practice @ $500 little more or less for AXE-FX II

You're talking about two very different things. Studio speakers (with the Axe cab sims on, aka FRFR) is the sound of a miked guitar cabinet. Bill, I agree, I wouldn't expect anyone but a long time Axe-FX owner to know it's inner workings. :) My point was that there is no "bigness" parameter in the Axe-FX, just as there is no "bigness" knob on a traditional amp. I would expect a producer to know that, and ask for specifics. "Let's...

If he's the producer, he should know how to get the sound he wants. That's his job. That said, I think "bigness", whatever that means, is generally done with layering multiple tracks. Different cabs, mics, gain structures, guitars, chord forms, can all contribute to a full sound. I don't...
