Correct. I run my guitar wireless and plug the GM cable when I need too. BTW, you can use non-Boss cables. They just need to be AES cables. I got some on Amazon in a few lengths. Here’s a short one: https://a.co/d/7lm6M07

Anyone use Boss GM-800 with FM9 or Axe-FX III?

My setup is simple. I have 4 patches I use for gigs. The GM-800 is plugged into In3 of the FM9. In all 4 presets I have a Multiplexer right before Out1 - one channel is my existing signal path from In1 and the other is In3. I have a footswitch assigned to toggle between the two. At the moment, I...

Is There A Polyphonic Synth for AxeFx III?

Guitar synth is the holy grail for me at this point. I’m completely satisfied with my traditional guitar tones from my Fractal boxes. Any form of synth guitar that is doing pitch to MIDI sucks in some way. MIDI Guitar 2 has no ability to do per string things at all. The tracking is very good...

Most Axe Fx III's run in series, for one guitarist? Blow my mind....

The overall rig is whatever you want it to be. All three units are connected to Rane analog line mixer so they can be treated completely independently. They're also daisy chained via S/PDIF into one Axe-Fx III. Technically, I don't really need the mixer but it would be a royal PITA to have...

I haven’t really tried it at low volume because that’s really not the point of it for me. When I play at lower volume I plug into my studio monitors. Fender Tone Master FR10

What level were you sending the FR10? How loud are your presets? I generally shoot for around 0db like the factory presets. I had the FM9 out1 about noon and the FR10 around 1 o’clock. That was way louder than I play on stage for any sort of normal gig.
  36. hippietim

    Fender Tone Master FR10

I don’t have access to one but there are some comparisons that can be made anyhow. Size and weight are in the same ballpark Red sound has more low end specd Fender has some EQ which can be used to adjust a bit for the room. To me, the cut is the handiest thing to tweak. Fender has the tilt...

  38. hippietim

    Fender Tone Master FR10

Comparing a FR rig to a traditional rig is very situationally dependent. Are you carrying the room? Just how many speakers/cabs and how loud is the other guitarist? How big is the room? How big is the stage area and how are you monitoring the rest of the band? A CLR, RCF, FR10, etc will carry a...

So far this thing really just kicks ass. It sounds great, plenty of thump, looks great, tilt-back legs are very nice to have, and it's lightweight. Comparing it to my RCF speakers, the FR10 holds it's own for guitar stuff no problem. I haven't tried any keyboards, prerecorded music, acoustic...

It’s a niche largely because it just isn’t good enough for most guitarists that just want to pound away. Even the Fishman is not good enough. The popularity of the EHX 9 and Boss SY stomp boxes show that players want this stuff. I have the Fishman system and don’t really use it much because...

Steel guitar simulator for electric guitar with FM3?

The tricky part about doing a ukulele is getting the right filter/eq to give you the sound of nylon strings. Steel guitar simulator for electric guitar with FM3?

This is going to be long winded. Sorry. A steel guitar is an electric guitar played with a slide bar - typically made of steel (hence the name). There's nothing particularly special about that - just play your guitar with a heavy steel slide. So I'm assuming what you're really after is the...

    Fractal vs Capture

It's not magic. Something still has to take the data from a capture file and apply it in real-time to an incoming audio stream to produce the simulated output. You may not call it an amp modeler but it is an audio processing engine. And your results can only be as good as the how well the engine...

Sorry but I've been developing software professionally for over 35 years and this is just a bunch of jibber-jabber. Admittedly, I'm no ML expert. However, I do know how computers work. There's no magic thing that takes ML statistics as input and generates audio. So I repeat, something has to...
  81. hippietim

    Fractal vs Capture

Something needs to generate audio. The ToneX capture files are fairly small. There's no way it contains anything other than parameters for some sort of audio engine. So the results can only be as good as how well that engine can interpret the parameters generated by the capture data.
  82. hippietim

    Fractal vs Capture

It's a bit more than training - the underlying amp simulation engine has to be capable of doing what the trainer says. And you're still faced with the fact that the controls don't work as expected.

This is exactly my problem with the approach that the Kemper and QC take - as soon as you play with a profile/capture in any way, it stops acting like the amp it's meant to be simulating.
