Has anyone opened up their CLR or Q12/CF12 & can tell us what drivers are in there?

It would be more accurate to say that the HF horn assembly is sonically transparent in the pass band of the woofer, it doesn't "shape" anything.

Running cab and FOH setup strategies

As you describe it, either you are using the cab sims in AxeFX going through your onstage cab, or you don't use cab sim going through FOH - since both are receiving the same signal. Most choose to insert the FX loop block in a row, just before the cab sim block, this sends the "no cab sim"...

I'd say it could work well depending on your needs/wants. If you're open to experimentation and not trying to duplicate every pedal - especially drive pedals - then it may be the ticket for you. The first step would be getting the gain structure dialed in going into the amp inputs vs. using the...

The best response and dispersion would be if you used the cab vertically, put coax + HF in top and coax - HF in the bottom, run it in mono. You can also use a different method. Rather than use AxeFX modes on your IA's, set them as General Midi. +1, this is generally the best practice. I don't have an RCF, but most of these higher end powered monitors will have on board limiting. Improving tone in headphones for rehearsals/live ears

It could be an issue, depending on the board preamps - they may not be able to handle the line level XLR signal, could be an impedance mismatch. qsc sounds better with ear close to speaker

Not exactly, crossovers do not chop off frequencies like a "brick wall", it is a slope - commonly 24db/octave. An octave is doubling/halving the frequency, so if the HF is crossed @2k then at 1k it is down 24db. Personally, I have found that with FRFR especially you need a certain amount of...

I would suggest building the wider cab in the size you wish, then using styrofoam or spray foam to decrease the internal volume. The simplest thing might be this - add a null filter block post-amp, set it's output Db so that you get the desired boost level when you bypass/engage it. Now, go to the filter's bypass parameter and press enter, assign your EXT# controller for your EXP pedal. 0% - 49% = bypassed, 50% - 100% =...

    Aluminum Pedal Board

For a more durable finish, you might consider Line-X or similar truck bed liner - they can do a fairly smooth finish as well as textured. Usually can get a good deal if you leave it with them and they can spray it in between bigger jobs.

    Got my Kicktags this week

I've had my set for several months now. They look great, service was great, and I feel they are well worth the price as I know the magnetic and especially the glow materials are quite expensive. Unfortunately, for me they are just not holding up well to live use. Some torn, some fallen off. I...

Dirt if front of clean--great results!

I'd post a patch but am currently without a MIDI Interface. As Jens said, it's in the advance clip type, you can try the Germanium in any of the drive models. The FET seemed to work well for a more subtle bit of grit.

    Will my SLA-1 drive a 200w EVM12L ?

200w only translates to 2db more than 100w in perceived loudness - it wouldn't be twice as loud.

Dirt if front of clean--great results!

I also like the germanium, one of the best liquid lead tones I've gotten with the Ultra was emulating Shawn Lane's old setup with the Holmes SS amp that had a sort of FF OD circuit built-in. Chain I used is Tube Drv w/HV > FET boost w/germanium chip, set to just a bit of breakup>Roland Jazz...

Dirt if front of clean--great results!

With real amps I generally preferred running dirt pedals into a cleanish-edge-of-breakup amp, as opposed to amp distortion. Also, gain staging with 2 or more dirt pedals. I've gotten some great results using similar virtual setups in the Ultra, also even running one amp block into another for a...

Tone wasn't good enough for recording

IMO, there are vast differences in FRFR speakers. Tones that I've tweaked for a particular cab to sound fabulous, when I ran DI in some FOH systems sounded horrible - razor edge highs that could not be EQ'd out with the AxeFX global EQ. I have also recorded DI, I work part time engineering in a...
