Help me find the right amp model for modern rock

Personally, I'd stick with the Herbert. It covers a lot of tones, and although it's very hairy and spikey in a good way, it doesn't have to be heavy. I don't get along with the VH4. I'll acknowledge that it's a useful, well balanced amp, but there's something in the mids that grates on my...

Did a comparison between my FM3 and a Quad Cortex

Amen. I learned this many years ago at one of those huge multiple band festivals. Every band that used some kind of simulated amp sounded great. Some of the headliners that used amps and had time to soundcheck extensively sounded good too, but any of the "quick change" bands that insisted on...

    Crisis? No but a break

I understand and applaud the impulse (wish I’d been that smart at that time in my life). The electronics will be replaceable, but unless you really need the cash, you might regret the guitars down the road. They don’t take up that much space in the closet. ;)

    Guitars in Moving truck?

Ain't that the truth. On moving day, we had an envelope of cash sitting under some other stuff on a desk that was staying. It was there to tip the movers who were loading the truck. When it came time to pay them, the stuff on the desk was still there but envelope was gone. It was tense, but...

    Guitars in Moving truck?

My solution was to pack everything critical (guitars, gear, computers, etc.) into a rental van and drive it down on the same day as the moving truck. I had no idea how exhausting it would be, but in retrospect I’m still glad I did. If anything had gone wrong I’d have been devastated.

Best presets to buy for FM9?

I've spent a bit too much on presets, and a large swathe of 'em don't really get used. Expression pedal or momentary switches....help me decide, Fractal brethern!

I like the way you think. I've been using "side car" board with a couple of expression pedals and a passive two button switch for some time. I did it that way so that it's easier to carry and it can go with one of several modeler rigs. A Disaster Area controller might make that setup much...
