ernie vp jr as expression pedal

I modded my EB VP Jr for linear rather than logarithmic taper. It was as good as useless before (with the All Access). Recently the string broke though and it's a complete pain in the arse to fix so I've decided to get a couple of the Boss ones. I prefer them I think. Sure, they're bigger...

how to make a REAL comparrison between real amps and axe fx II

    1. Set up 'real amp' recording chain: Guitar --> Amp --> Cab -->Microphone --> Desk 2. Take IR of the above Cab and Microphone combo, but using your favourite linear power amp. Put that in your Axe-FX preset. 3. Split guitar signal using buffered device, play in to the two rigs. 4. Compare...

Two amps are better than one....

I like to run two amps. I don't have the II yet, but with my Ultra I like to run two amps together. One dirty, one crunch. Or one clean and one slightly dirty. An AC30 and a Twin, or a Diezel and a JTM45. I wonder if this will still be the case when I get my hands on a II. Anyone...

MFC-101 doesn't like Linear Expression Pedals?

Yes, this is it! The All Access does require a reverse taper. A simple soldering operation later and I'm back up and running. Thanks to you and JJ. I can confirm the MFC-101 DOES like linear expression pedals. Just make sure you got it the right way round. ;)
  8. M

MFC-101 doesn't like Linear Expression Pedals?

Possibly. When I modded the pedal I set it up so that it would work over one TRS cable. So, I guess it could be backwards, but if so it was backwards for the All Access which works fine.

MFC-101 doesn't like Linear Expression Pedals?

I've just switched over from the Rocktron All Access to the MFC-101. The MFC-101 has the latest firmware. I'm having a problem with my expression pedal though. It's a Ernie Ball VPJr modded to have a linear tapered pot in it. This works 100% fine with the All Access. Halfway on the...

Able to create Presets based on IA states using the same Axe FX Preset

I'm with everyone on this. From the manual: Whenever you load a new preset, the On/Off states of Axe-Fx IA switches are determined dynamically based what is saved in the Axe-Fx, and shown on the LEDs of the MFC-101 to indicate what is found for the assigned effect: GREEN=Effect Present &...

The new MATRIX GT800FX. THE amp for THE Axe-Fx

I'd like to hear more opinions too! Especially as the Marshall 8008 is pretty much £400 cheaper! (based on used price). I think the 8008 might struggle for power though on loud gigs, particularly with the impedance mismatch between amp and cab. There's either something I'm just not getting...

The new MATRIX GT800FX. THE amp for THE Axe-Fx

I got one of these recently. Was quite surprised to hear that it is almost indistinguishable from my Marshall 8008 when running through an Orange 4x12. Any sonic difference is so so slight to my ears. Tin ears perhaps? Lol. The Matrix is better spec'd. 2.7kg lighter too.

    1) My levels were set pretty similar to yours actually. I didn't adjust any levels inside the unit once my patches were setup, just adjusted the front control knobs. Although I remember one of my output knobs was variable depending on the level of the Rockerverb. 2) No, I sold the Rockerverb...

Orange Amp with axe fx using 4 cm (4 cable method)

Might be replying a bit late for you to still be checking on this post... But I had the exact set-up you were describing. Axe-FX and Rockerverb 50. It was good. I always thought the clean on the Rockerverb was too clean, and I didn't really think it worked out great with pedals. But the gain...

How to run 2 amps at once???

Indeed. The Axe-FX matrix works a lot like real life. Just think of each of those empty squares as a bit of space in your studio / music room / bedroom. And you got loads of patch cables.

    Delays make the tone worse?

An amateur mistake is to not raise the level accordingly in relation to the mix control (I just run my delays in parallel, 100% wet, so I don't have this problem) If you don't adjust the level properly then when you engage the delay you loose a little bit of volume.

    Speaker Frequency Range Question?

Well yeah. You asked if you should. Well you don't have to, but you could! Scott Peterson filters a lot of the low frequencies and the high frequencies. Search his threads. Or it might be on the wiki somewhere. The speaker can produce the frequency, as you can clearly see there is a SPL in...

Can you run bass guitar or even voice through the Axe Fx?

Re: Can you run bass guitar or even voice through the Axe Fx The analog/digital converter cannot be damaged, because all it does is detect the electric impulses coming from the guitar, and sends those out in digital numbers. The electric voltage coming from a bass guitar or a microphone is not...

    Speaker Frequency Range Question?

Because after 5000Hz you can see the Sound Pressure Level drops off rapidly by around 20-30dB which is more than enough to make it pretty much inaudible compared to the stuff. Same with the bass end. Remember decibels is a logarithmic scale! For example: If you are standing next to a jack...

The Expanded Atomic Reactor Series Is Now In Stock!

Mixing clean parallel with a heavily distorted signal?

For my dirt sounds I mix a high gain amp, with a crunchy mid-gain amp. I just control the relative levels using the level control in each block. Those are 8 modifiers in the Axe-FX, not 8 IA's aren't they? There seems to be some discrepancy around these parts as to what an 'Instant Access' button actually does. I imagine the best thing to use to get a whammy sound out of the Axe-FX would be the Pitch block set to Whammy mode. Just a guess though. ;) 8-) Your wah pedal won't be able to control it, you will need an expression pedal, or a volume pedal and a insert-lead. I use one of the Ernie Ball...

Using Axe-FX "As an Effects Unit with a Combo Amp"

It means you can use the Axe-FX as a preamp using it's amp models, or you can use it just for effects. The sentence you quoted means that if you want to use your 'real' amp then you need to make sure the Axe-FXs effects loop block is in your virtual signal chain with in the Axe-FX. If you do...
