September issue of Guitar world is chock full o' Fractal

Hard words. Weird that in the last two months I haven't seen or heard anything in that area. In fact, the only time I've seen a company being trash talking the competition is actually when Cliff has showed how inferior the rest of the modelers are. Any links/pointers? I'm really curious.

Axe-Fx II Firmware Version 5.07 Available

Permission was given for sure, but the credit was none until I pointed it out. That was of course BII (before II), so I got a surprise when the IR was in the AxeFX2 but without credit (again). I do have better things to do than chasing Mr. Chase (*giggle*) every time there's a new revision of...

While building my Fortin Natas patch, I discovered something...

Well, I haven't tried your patch (yet), but I know that with some modding of the stock amps, it's possible to get really close, except that with a single turn on a Natas-knob, the sound completely changes which would take anothe 30 minutes to achieve. ;) I've been working with everything...

I've played the Natas too, and it's a dream of an amp. Much like the AxeFX, but real tubes and faster to edit. ;)

    Fractal Audio Welcomes Mikael Akerfeldt!....?

Mikael use it direct and to his amps/4x12 for mnitor/extra oomph. Fredrik used to use it with his amps (four cable method) but due to the ohm mismatch, he's now using it as a preamp and his amps as power amps only. I don't blame him, it's only live anyway, and the control you get with the AxeFX...

A strange boast from Line 6...

It's simply awesome to get worked up over something like this! ;) Feels just like when I heard the AxeFX for the first time, and yeah, i got worked up over it before I've played it.

Congrats to Cliff et al. for having Opeth!

Yeah, my bad in both cases. :) In Sweden it's a small metal world, and touring is pretty expensive, so when a solution appears in such an awesome way that it can't be disregarded as a toy, people are willing to give it a shot. Besides, both bands have saved enough money in shipping costs that...

Mats, you're just listening to the wrong type of metal. Here are some rules: #1. It can't be from Norway. #2. Black metal isn't a reference to the color of their clothes. #3. "Grind" as in grindcore, goregrind etc. is referred to the drums, not the guitars. #4. "Swedish death" or "Swedish Death...

Oh yes. That's exactly how it works. With a good bass sound, the guitars sound fatter, and so on. It's really nice to watch a good mixing engineer totally destroy all the cool sounds you've made, to make an even cooler mix. ;)

Axe FX gets the thumbs up at rehearsal

That IE system seems awesome! Very nice indeed. When I used IE monitoring I added two large diaphragm condensers behind the drummer, like in a studio environment. The one REALLY annoying thing about the Standard (at least for me, the high gain brootalz guy) is the fact that the Standard don't have a gate/expander block. It does have the "regular" gate, but... I used the volume block controlled by the envelope, but...

Hi Neil. I'd get into the User IR business if i was you. I have, and the difference is incredible. Since Cliff have chosen all the stock IR's and he's using Event 20/20 monitors (unless he bought a new pair), the stock cabs have similar characters that sounds very good in those near field...

    Axe-fx Vs Axe-fx ...challenge inside....

Great! Then I might try it too. Since I couldn't play what you're playing I was hoping that you'd put up reamp files so we could have a go at it. So, we're aiming for the "axe-fx with external gear" sound, right? Since that was the challenge I mean. Cool.

    Side by Sides

Yeah that's reamped. Actually, both are reamped to get my playing out of the equation. Thanks for the nice words. Subtle differences indeed. It takes some tweaking to get it there, then it takes 1 minute to "mod" it into awesomness. ;)

    Thinking of spending $1499?

I would start with stealing tires and sell them. Then I'd...oh wait.... ;) Back at FW4.0 I compared the Standard to a PodXT pro, and where the L6 was like a JPG image of a garden, the AxeFX WAS the garden. It was like I could smell the damn flowers and sh*t. ;)

    Thinking of spending $1499?

It's possible to get a result that's VERY much similar, but you might have to tweak some advanced settings depending on the shape of the original amp, like bias settings, tube age and so on. Then you say: aww, f**k it, I'll add a phaser, flanger, boost pedal, chorus, leslie, delay, and maybe an...
