Matrix GT800FX Problem - Shutting down

I have both and actually only use the standard for live use (power amp/cab). I basically have it dialed in for the couple of sounds I use - just a couple of variations of a cleanish vox/telecaster sound with a couple of drive options (I should just get an ac30!). I am always very happy with it...

New fw17 on bass

Seems great! Finding it very easy to get nice tones - even from the non-bass models...tube pre, hiwatt, ODS clean etc. Can't really compare with the previous firmware as I have just changed bass rigs a couple of days ago to a Bergantino IP310 1000w powered cab...seems a perfect match for the axe!

...one thing i really like about the standard/ultra is the input trim on the front panel - i can clean or dirty up a patch at a gig or compensate for different guitars so easily with that control and I miss it on the II

Just trying it now - Bug? the DC30 and AC30 hi cut works like presence now CCW is dullest; CW is brightest - DC30 defaults to fully CCW which is very dull.

Yeah - hers just came on suddenly and freaked her out a bit. she said everything was brighter with her eyes closed than with them open, so it was hard sleeping and generally very weird. Doesn't sound like that would be your cause if you've had it all your life though.

Any of you have this?

If this has just come on, I'd get it checked out. My sister was ill a couple of weeks ago and had very strong closed-eye visuals along with headaches and general weakness. Turns out it was a benign brain tumor - they took it out last week and all is going great so far.

Props to cliff and fractal on the reverb

Initial impressions are that the new verbs seem to work much better in front of the amp now. I have had to use a Boss FRV-1 pedal in front of the Axe to get a decent 'tank in front of the amp' reverb sound on gigs. Hopefully, I can replace that now.

Tone match same as cab sim?

Almost all the tonematch presets you can download area tonematch of the amp and the cab - so they are the same as a preset with an amp and a cab and will probably sound bad through a real guitar cab. If you can tonematch a preset or sound of just the amp - no cab - it should sound better...

Bug? Axe fx II freezes when switching into a preset

I had this the other day - it froze on preset 330 which was a factory preset (Petrucci Rhythm). Rebooted many times, unplugged power and USB. I couldn't get off it for 1/2 an hour or so. I eventually got it off 330 by spinning the dial just as it booted up. Then I saved another factory preset...

Exporting IRs

Your IRs sound very promising Bob. I haven't made an IR yet, but It's pretty easy to export them with axe edit. It won't muck anything up as long as you don't edit with it. To export an IR in axe edit, I just go to the axe-manage tab on the left; select 'user cabs' under 'axe-fx' on the left...

Two Rock frustration

I've had a few presets haven't loaded properly for me with Axe-edit. They all load OK with MIDI-OX.

Where can I get / download old versions of ULTRA firmware?

I have a few 5.xx, 6.xx and 7.xxx but they are for standard not ultra. AlGrenadine, if you can PM me your email, I'll send them through.
