USB-plug troubles - only the unlucky few?

I'm in the seems a little loose but it's fine camp. I kinda jigged it up so that the connection point on the FM3 basically can't move. Left some slack and zip tied it to the handles. Any tension has a stopping point at the handle and zip tie. I'm not taking it out of my home "studio" for now, so...

Giving the Poly Digit a try, mostly for reverbs... Just a thought as well

I’ll make sure to share my thoughts. Should be here in the next day or two. Might take me some time to wrap my head around being able to use properly, but I’ll be sure to post. I’m with 2112 as far as the quality of the Fractal verbs are concerned. I’ll go one further and add that in my tests...

Giving the Poly Digit a try, mostly for reverbs... Just a thought as well

It's not necessary, as I love the Fractal Reverbs, but kinda couldn't help myself. I'm a bit of a reverb junkie and don't want to have to rely on going through my DAW for some variety when I feel like it. Got me thinking though... In my experience the best plugins there are rely on...

    Next big thing for Fractal

As a player who’s been through two Axe Fx III, and am now on my second FM3, I’m with the Jason. There’s a lot to wrap your head around in the Fractal world and first impressions don’t work in Fractal’s favour necessarily. Took me several attempts (purchases) to really grasp just how much more...

    Quick question about Trem block

I’ve noticed the Trem disengages when the input from guitar reaches a certain low point. The block doesn’t disengage but the Trem cycle shuts off. Input trigger threshold is off. No gate is on in the preset. Just wondering if this is normal and wondering why it functions that way. Input signal...

    REV Cab IR's

Messed around with that resistive load impedance curve and definitely smooths things out with headphones. Loses a little too much of the character for any given IR, but definitely smooths things out. I've spend a lot of time using MixIR3 to dial in IRs and use the Speaker Impedance Curve for...

    REV Cab IR's

Just saw this thread while in the midst of inquiring about them. Being heavy on the headphone use as of late, I think I’ve come to the same conclusion as you. I don’t know if it’s only ribbon mic’s that have that REV thing but it works really well with the 121 ribbon mics. Perhaps it creates a...

How do I add a Chorus Pedal, TC Nova Delay & TC Hall Of Fame 2 Reverb Pedal Into my setup?

This is a screenshot from a Leonn Todd video... Mixer block is somewhat optional. On the FM3 you would have to use blocks Output 2 and in Input 2 since that's all we got. And yes, you have the connections on the back correct and as unix-guy says turn up the output 2

Already thinking add an H9 to FM3... Anyone have or other good options?

I'll throw my 2 cents in the round cause why not? I recently picked up a Nemesis Delay after struggling with getting the kind of delay tones I wanted. I worked all the delay and multi-delay blocks available for a while. Complex routing, 2112's Delay Designer and his other videos on YouTube...

It’s actually very meaningful for me. I have the ability to perceive volume differences and similarities between two different audio sources through the same headphones. I’ve worked on it for years at this point by being alive and not hard of hearing.

    FM3 best setup?

I’m fairly conscientious of volume but I will try the one side off thing. Just surprised to see what someone else might consider loud. As a point of comparison, I usually have the headphone volume on my FM3 at about the same as half volume would be when listening to music through iTunes. I’m...

    FM3 best setup?

Whaaaaaaat?!?!?! I use Sennheiser 598SR, which are 50 ohm headphones and at 30-40% it would be very quiet with the output block peaking just above 0 db. I know I haven’t lost that much hearing in my 40 years. I can get the volume up to at least halfway before it starts to get too loud for...

Believe it or not... Can't get the Tweed amps to sounds fizzy enough

Just reporting back on my findings after noodling with a few different IRs from the way too many I have. Big difference in the overall quality of what I perceive as the type of distortion. Also, I have yet to do any diving into advanced amp parameters as I just haven't found the need in order to...

Believe it or not... Can't get the Tweed amps to sounds fizzy enough

Was away for the day but I had a feeling the "fizzy" term would be a little contentious when I checked in. For reference I was comparing the model in the FM3 to recorded tones I hear, modellers, and recent reissues. I've played vintage tweed amps, but haven't had the nerve to crank them up since...

Believe it or not... Can't get the Tweed amps to sounds fizzy enough

Yes! Just as the title says, I am struggling to get the tweed amps, in particular the Deluxe, to get all fizzy like you would get in UAD's Tweed Deluxe and mic'd recordings. The quality of the distortion in the FM3 and Axe III is more of a "crunchy/crispy" (not crunchy as in amount of gain)...

    A Headphone Hunting Review

I agree with Frischerl. There are psychoacoustics involved that are too influential to be so certain of any specific pair. My experience was done in a very comparative scenario. I do wonder what my reaction to each pair would have been had I not been able to compare them.

Guitar Rig vs Axe-Fx III: is there really a better tone?

I've been where you're at with questioning whether that extra bit is really there with the Fractal units. What kind of tones are you usually using? I have been 95% headphone as of late and could share some preset that I use that work for me. I agree with the extra bright eq in headphones vs frfr or monitors, but that’s not different than what you get with an actual mic’s cabinet. For what it’s...

I advise doing some research into the modelled amps. Get to know the basics of their headroom, eq, and general characteristics. I recommend doing a YouTube search for “Axe Fx III” + “name of amp/brand”. Leon’s channel is great to get to know big names. It also only makes sense to get to know...

Looking for tips for getting "classic" models of delay pedals, racks, units etc.

Looking for tips for getting "classic" models of delay pedals, racks, units etc.

Thanks for the reply. What you describe wouldn't be it though. When I run the FM3 through my DAW and use some modelled delay plugins, the tones and character are there. Specifically, I'm referring to the Overloud Binson plugin, Outer Space from Audio Thing, and the models in Soundtoys Echoboy.

I really do enjoy the delays in the FM3 and Axe FX III, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer up some tips for eq'ing, LFO'ing, modulation, diffusing, etc. when it comes to dialling in some of the classic delay tones we know and love. Space Echo, Binson Echorec, Oil Can delays, Echoplex. I find...

I hate to do it... I've tried and I've read the manual. Need help with USB audio into Logic and back.

Is there any reason to be concerned about running CPU near Max all the time?

Agreed. A yes or no, no in this case, is all we need. Thanks “main man” :)

Is there any reason to be concerned about running CPU near Max all the time?

As the title suggests, are we asking for premature wear on the unit due to higher heat being generated? Provided there is proper ventilation, is the 80% or so max meant to keep it at “safe” operating levels in the overall long run? Searched a bit but didn’t see any thread regarding wear and tear...

Curious about the exclusion of impedance control

Just curious, not a criticism. Searched as best I could but came up with nothing. Do we know why the variable impedance option was not included in the FM3? I still get along with the fuzz pedals in the FM3, but the tweaker in me kind of wished I could adjust the impedance like in the Axe Fx III.

    Spring reverb 12.09

I quickly noted that I am actually running an FM3 but just didn't want to start a new thread. No go on the two springs for me:) Not the biggest deal though. I was just wondering if there was any specific reason why the spring was not a stereo option on any of the Fractal units.

    Spring reverb 12.09

I use the Source Audio True Spring in the external stereo loop. Same way you’d insert a reverb block or any after the cab. It’s not that uncommon to have a stereo spring reverb in the digital world. Can’t remember where I read or watched all about it, but a lot of studios would have reverbs such...

Resurrecting this from the dead to see if there is any reason why the spring reverb cannot be a stereo plugin. Moving speakers closer together, reverb

Same psychoacoustic effect with cans on. I’m using open-back Sennheisers and they have considerably wide sound stage. If I reduce the stereo width of whichever reverb I happen to be using, I inevitably need to reduce the reverb mix as the core amp tone and punch gets washed out too much. I...

Very different sound with headphones vs monitors
