    Help with Relays

Well, relays are not the latest thing. They are used with amps that can only be controlled via footswitches, but if an amp is midi capable I'd always go mdi. I guess with the JVM you can control much more via midi than with the relays or footswitches.

    Help with Relays

I use the relays with my Palmer Fat50, both ends TRS and I can switch the 4 channels, master volume and reverb. But the Palmer is quite different compared to the JVM as the Palmer has two footswitch inputs so I can use both relays of the FX8. But I wonder why you want to use the relays when you...

    FX8 VS MKII

I own both versions and with both I really can't tell the difference regarding feel using the FX8 in 4CM or plugging directly into one of my amps (Diezel VH-4 and Palmer FAT50). But maybe other amps react different with the FX8 in front or in the loop.

    Very cool, but...

Well, Guthrie would propably kill it with a Gorilla amp - the Aristocrats are great! And I can totally see why Guthrie loves his FX8, it's a fantastic piece of gear. Regarding updates or additions - this discussion already happenend in the 'FX8 V5.04 Released' thread (see top of the FX8...

    FX8 V5.04 Released

Now the big question for me is: will there be a successor with effects only, optimized for 4CM and relay switching?

    Humbuster cables for all connections?

In my case humbuster cables didn't help to eliminate the hum. The FX8 was humming like crazy with both of my amps (Diezel VH-4 and Palmer FAT50), never had this problem before with any other unit I owned. Now I use line isolators with all the connections between FX8 and amp and the hum is gone...

FX8 Relay Question - Momentary Switching?

I guess it works, they call it 'auto-off' instead of 'momentary'. Taken from the manual: 'You can set each of the FX8 relays to LATCHING or AUTO OFF modes. The vast majority of relay-controlled devices require a latching relay. Some amps (e.g. 5150, some Bogners, etc.) require a relay which...

Peavey Classic 50 + Relay Switching

Hi, with the Peavey Classic 50 I would expect the following behaviour: OFF: clean channel / reverb off TIP: lead channel / reverb off RING: clean channel / reverb on TIP & RING: lead channel / reverb on What happens if you set the relay to tip & ring? I guess to switch between clean and lead...

    FX8 Mark II Relays?

Guess there is really something wrong with your unit. I regulary use the tuner on my FX8s, they never freeze and like I said before, setting relays with FX8-Edit works flawless. Regarding the calibration I think that's what calibration is for. My mission pedals don't calibrate form 0 - 100%...

Glad I could help you - now have some fun with the FX8 and your Powerball!:)

    FX8 Mark II Relays?

That's interesting. I never had a problem saving relay settings per scene using FX8-Edit. I have a mark I and a mark II both on 5.03 and they work perfectly together with my Palmer Fat50 (switching all functions via relays) and Diezel VH-4 (switching via midi).

    FX8 Mark II Relays?

From the manual of the Powerball about the S.A.C. port: CAUTION: Connect only the ENGL Z-9 Footswitch to this 6.3 mm (¼") stereo jack! Connecting any other switching device may damage it and/or the amp's circuitry! Insert and remove the Z-9's cable to and from the S.A.C. Port only when the amp...

    FX8 Mark II Relays?

Could you please provide some more information? For example what happens, when you change the settings (from 'off' to 'tip' to 'ring' to 'both') of the relay that is connected to the amp? Which input did you use on your amp? Do you use the right relay mode for your amp ('latching' or 'auto off')?

    FX8 Mark II Relays?

You have to connect the FX8 relay output with the appropriate footswitch input on the Powerball using a trs cable. Then open FX8-Edit, choose a preset, open the config tab and there you`ll find "Relay 1" and "Relay 2". There you can set the switching for the different scenes of the preset.

Getting loud white noise when my USB is connected

I get some hiss, too, when the FX8 is connected via usb so I simply disconnect the cable when I record cause I don't need FX8-Edit during recording. It only occures when I use the FX8 in 4CM, when I use it only in front of the amp the hiss is gone.

Diezel VH4 with FX8 in 4 Cable Method

I change channels via program change (PC) commands. First you have to make sure that the VH-4 receives midi on the right channel (or on all channels - omni mode). If you send a program change command from the FX8 to the VH-4 you have to store it on the VH-4: 6.1 Preamp Channel Selection The 4...

Anyone else wondering if FM3 might replace their FX8?

The FM3 won't replace my FX8s. I have two amps, one can be controlled via midi, but for the other I need relay switching (and I don't want to use a midi switcher because I got no space left on my board). The FX8 was designed for 4CM, I guess the FM3 wasn't and I don't need amp models. I'm super...

Using the FX8 with Mooer RADAR pedal?

It should be possible because the Radar has power amp sims, too. But maybe it would even be better to use it together with a preamp pedal like the AMT F-1 which even has a loop for 4CM.

FX8 mounting to a pedaltrain board

I only had to remove the front three rubber feet to mount the FX8 to my pedal board, but after failing to replace the screws with two different kinds of M3.5 6mm screws I bought (they didn`t fit well) I gave up and put the original screws in. Guess this shouldn't be a problem with the front...

Diezel VH4 with FX8 in 4 Cable Method

I use the serial loop with the VH-4, this way you can use the parallel loop as a second master volume and you don't run into phase issues. Parallel loop only makes sense to me if the effects unit is a tone sucker (which isn't the case with the fx8) and you want as much dry signal as possible.

Diezel VH4 with FX8 in 4 Cable Method

I'm pretty sure it will work out for you. It seems that the VH-4 and the FX8 are not a good match regarding ground loops. Strange that I never had problems like this before with other multi effects or my pedalboards in the same environment. On the PLI05 and the Lehle I had to push the ground...

    Wish About scenes naming/screen display

Diezel VH4 with FX8 in 4 Cable Method

I had the Palmer PLI05 because it's always nice to have one available if you play live and problems with ground loops occur. I bought the Lehle P-Split some time ago to drive two amps and to record a DI signal of the guitar to do reamping, but it works as a line isolator, too. So there was no...

Diezel VH4 with FX8 in 4 Cable Method

Hi, I own a VH-4 and bought a used FX8 recently. While the VH-4 is one of the quietest amps I know it was a bit of a struggle to get 4CM working. I bought humbuster cables and used the same power socket for the VH-4 and FX8, but it didn't help. I had really bad hum (ground loop) even when using...
