Post Your Axe-Fx III Rigs Here!

The Fractal is an amazing tool, I use it all the time, but ... Yes, I still love my tube amps and can't get around to part with them, still love to dial some good old fashion knobs and play through an amp and cab whenever I get the chance.

Compact pedal sized stereo power amp for FM9?

The Harley Benton is 100w into 8ohms or 190w into 4ohm, it's reportedly similar to a 33w tube amp. I have a couple and they're loud enough to gig with, but you're right about the response, they're not flat. But you can't use the onboard EQ and sorta sort that, but heck, for the price there's...

Compact pedal sized stereo power amp for FM9?

The Harley Benton GPA-100 is very cheap and has a lot of power for it's price/size. It's not very transparent imho, but you can eq it easily. It's a solid buy, and you can't go wrong for the price.

    FM3 As Pedalboard with Backline

If I was presented with this situation, I'd just bypass the cab block and plug straight into the FX loop return of the amp as that usually sounds pretty good. You can also add an EQ block to tweak it to taste.

[implemented] Klon Centaur drive block model as in Axe FX III

+1 for me .. I miss it more than extra footswitches :tearsofjoy:

    FM3 Slow?

Yes, I also noticed that, heavy presets makes it even slower. I believe that, that's why I got it. I was ok with the unit not being able to reproduce very heavy presets, but I wasn't aware of the performance difference on the switching and menu's, it is noticeably slower and I didn't knew...

    FM3 Slow?

Compared to the AXE3 it's night & day, there's a huge difference. I'm trying to figure out if it's something wrong on my end or if it's just what it is.
  14. Paulo Remigio

    FM3 Slow?

I'll try to reinstall the firmware, thanks. As @hubula mentions, it feels sluggish .. I press a footswitch and the sound doesn't change instantly like the AXE3 does. The buttons and menus have the same slow feeling compared to the AXE3, kinda like when you have a slow pc or something.
  15. Paulo Remigio

    FM3 Slow?

Hi guys, I've been using an AXE-FX3 for a few years at home plugged into the pc/monitors and live with an FC12. I decided to get an FM3 for practice and small gigs, just got it today, firmware is 5.03. I immediately noticed how slow it is changing scenes and presets, compared to my AXE-FX3...

    Axe-Fx III 16.00 Beta 5 "Cygnus" Firmware - Public Beta #2

Not sure if this has been reported yet, but I encountered some issues after updating. Some of the amps I'm using on a couple presets (not sure about others) are defaulting to different amps, I could not get the USA IIc++ to work and the JVM OD1 Red neither, also. Not sure if this is a random...

    AFIII Anti-Climax

Just messing around with some different amps on AXe-Fx3, mostly the Super Reverb and a Mark2c+, and my 54 reissue Strat. I haven't recorded and mixed a full tune since ... last century! (literally, lol), I'm new to most of the software and techniques, it's all so much easier than back in the...

Simple pedal platform + extras (Deluxe reverb based)

I created this simple pedal platform to run my pedal board into the Axe-fx3 and test pedals. The results where so cool decided to expand and created created 8 scenes raging from dry to wet to some mild OD's and rock OD's and even a couple lead sounds so it can be used as a standalone preset...

I use studio monitors all the time

I've played my Spirit Folios for years (10+), like .. pretty much every day ... and ended up retiring them without any perceivable damage. Speakers are durable as hell, as long as you play them within their designed limits.

Sorry, I only have the III, not sure if there's any backwards compatibility possible also.

    Mesa Mark IIC+

That was the main idea, to have a simple preset that covered a lot of ground. Many get lost in these huge ecosystems and end up getting frustrated, I know I've been there, I hope these type of presets can get them going with something straightforward yet versatile.
  26. Paulo Remigio

    Mesa Mark IIC+

Here's a very straightforward preset, rock/metal with some cleans, some crunch, some higher gain and a couple lead patches.

    90's inspired preset

Hi guys, Been developing these sounds for a while, it's my main go to preset for jamming and general fiddling around, sounds good on my CLR's but also translates well into other systems i've tried (studio nearfields and into a 4x12 with the cab block disabled). Check it out and let mw know...

AFIII Mesa Boogie MarkV:25 vs the Axe-Fx 3 USA IIC++ Model

@George Koerich the master volume was higher on the model, that may account for the extra compression. Apart from that, all the model settings are the stock ones, I only edited the basic and post EQ pages.

    Monsters Inc.

Here's my latest take on those late 80's and 90's rock/metal tones many of us enjoy. I included 4 amps for different gain stages and flavors, both a rhythm and a lead scene each.
  32. Paulo Remigio

AFIII Mesa Boogie MarkV:25 vs the Axe-Fx 3 USA IIC++ Model

@shatteredsquare, the sound is a bit closed/dull because of my IR choice and very sparingly use of fx (only a slight delay, no reverb at all) its not the loadbox's fault.
  33. Paulo Remigio

    Changing

Not sure what you mean by non-linear o_O It matches both the amp gain structure and dynamics and will be eq'd/shaped by whatever you have on the mix, so the miking is extremely important and will have a big impact on the final result. The best profiles are usually put out by recording...

Ok, I got it, thanks for the explanation! There’s no way to know what Mr Friedman was thinking, but maybe there’s some reason behind his choice. Sometimes is an availability/cost issue, but I don’t think this is the case at all.

AFIII Mesa Boogie MarkV:25 vs the Axe-Fx 3 USA IIC++ Model

AFIII Mesa Boogie MarkV:25 vs the Axe-Fx 3 USA IIC++ Model

Here's another small clip, this time I'm comparing my own Mesa Boogie MarkV:25 to the AXE-FX 3 USA IIC++ Model I inserted the AMP into the AXE-FX 3 using a Two Notes Captor loadbox, everything else (all FX and CAB IR's) are the same, for a fair comparison. In my opinion, the AXE-FX 3 is even...

AFIII Friedman BE-100 (HBE channel) vs the Axe-Fx 3 HBE Model

No this is the standard, the 2018 is a another sound, less gain, slightly different voicing, maybe a bit thinner, not sure. My amp is a 2016 model with the gain structure mod added, also has the sat, fat and c45 modes, all of them disabled for this comparison purpose. It’s an awesome sounding...

AFIII Friedman BE-100 (HBE channel) vs the Axe-Fx 3 HBE Model

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic, LOL :) I intentionally did it this way because I honestly don’t see the point of comparing amps using different cab setups, it would be impossible to conclude anything other than “I like A or B better than the other one”, it would be totally subjective. I...

AFIII Friedman BE-100 (HBE channel) vs the Axe-Fx 3 HBE Model

It's recommended (in the manual, actually, if I recall correctly), to push hard on the bass on the BE100, it's the way this amp was designed I guess. This!! Totally agree.
  45. Paulo Remigio

AFIII Friedman BE-100 (HBE channel) vs the Axe-Fx 3 HBE Model

Settings on the BE100 where very similar to the model, apart from the treble, which was significantly higher on the BE (around 2'o clock) There's no High Treble knob and no Bright switch on the real amp, so I guess that was the trade-off. Sounded closer this way, that's why I set it up like...

    Handling Multiple Outs

My thoughts exactly when I did it. I've done some comparisons and I can't really tell, to be honest. That's a very interesting idea! Monitoring FX through the Axe-FX but leaving them out on the traack to be added in the mix stage only. Nice one! I was considering adding a second split, right...

    Handling Multiple Outs

I love the Axe-Fx 3 capability of handling multiple out's and different scenarios, the flexibility it was one of the main selling points for me. I mostly run a dual output configuration: - Out 1 goes stereo to FoH / Studio - Out 2 goes mono (Left only) to input A of a Matrix GT1000X set to...

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

Now you're just being a prick. Well, good day to you!
  53. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

Not really, tube amps put out an amount of noise, much more on the gain channels, even without signal applied. Just turn on an amp, plug in a guitar and dial it to zero, turn to the gain channel, add gain and add enough volume, it's there. In every amp. When you apply signal you get all sorts...
  54. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

C'mon, you're nit picking my words. I also get hiss from the amp with the guitar plugged in and the volume down, duh. Amps put out noise, that's just how it is. That "regular" noise is to be expected and can be corrected with a noise gate. Where I absolutely agree with you is that most of the...
  55. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

I do get noise on my tube amps gain channels without the guitar plugged in, but it's mostly hiss, not hum.
  56. Paulo Remigio

    Changing

Hello All, I've been using the Kemper Profiler for a little over a year, I also own a few tube amps and cabs so it made sense to go the Kemper route as I could be able to profile my own amps and record/gig with "them" at a much lower weight penalty. Over the period I've owned the Kemper, I've...
  57. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

If you have any gain on that channel, that would be common. If so, any chance you can't correct that lowering the gate threshold on the axe fx input, maybe?
  58. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

Where do you go from here? You send the Amp Out to to a speaker cab? So it's mostly an integration to use the Axe Fx as an FX processor and have fx before and after the amp's preamp stack, correct?
  59. Paulo Remigio

    Welcome: FC Controllers!

Hello guys, Sorry if I'm repeating the question, but what's the news on the shipment of the FC's? Anytime soon? I'm on the G66 waiting list.
  60. Paulo Remigio

Question about a setup idea (with tube amp and LB-2 in loop)

I've been wanting to test this, my approach would be to have the amp return to the Axe Fx using the FX Send and bypass the power amp section altogether, using the tube amp as a preamp stack only in the Axe Fx chain. I'd use the loadbox only to protect the amp, but I keep the master volume...
