    Gapless switching?

Grand scheme of things, the cost of an FM9 and everything it can do is pretty reasonable. And there's a built in way to address the audio gap, which is itself a fix. It's not like you're putting duct tape on a drywall hole. Although, since gapless switching just came to the AFIII (and audio...

    Gapless switching?

That could potentially be true, but either way the gap isn't noticeable enough for me to not use it for gigging. There's a ton of people that gig with the FM9 so when someone says they don't use it because of the audio gap that reasoning doesn't really hold water for me.
  3. R

    Gapless switching?

Man, that's some really picky reasoning. I used an AX8 for years with that unit's audio gap switching between amp settings and A) I've never noticed it in the context of the band and 3) I've never had anyone complain about the audio gap. I can't imagine the FM9 is any worse than the AX8 in...

    preset change

Lag will always be present when switching between presets, as it's essentially dumping the current preset and building the new one that you're switching to. If you want less lag/audio gaps it's recommended you utilize scenes. Scenes still have a slight audio gap when switching between amps in...

    A couple of beginners questions..

To answer your 1st question about channels, since the FM3 only allows for 1 Amp block per preset, channels act as a way to still allow you to use multiple amps in a preset (to be used for different scenes), while staying within the restrictions of only having 1 Amp block. You can either treat...

Wish Remove the loud clap when turning on/off

why would you turn the unit off/on during a song, and not before? Sound person should have you muted in house until the performance starts, so plugging in and turning on the unit should not cause a pop to be coming through the house speakers. That's a sound person issue, not an FM9 issue, as...

    Dyna Cabs...why don't I get it?

I'm still not understanding why using the output EQ on the amp block isn't a sufficient solution since it wouldn't require an extra EQ block, and uses functionality that's already available in the FM9. Sure it doesn't allow you to copy/paste the EQ, but why would you use the same IR EQ between...
  12. R

    Dyna Cabs...why don't I get it?

Why is it not quite the same, beyond the EQ not being a separate block? You said yourself that you want post-gain, pre-amp Cab block tone sculpting, which the output EQ would do exactly that since it's post-gain on the Amp block, pre-amp on the Cab block. Why would you use the same EQ...
  13. R

    Dyna Cabs...why don't I get it?

Trying to Predict the Next Move

I'd be surprised if they announce an AX8 II, as from what I've seen the FM3 IS the AX8's successor. The idea behind them pushing the FM3 is because you can buy the FC-6 or FC-12 to add on however many buttons you need.

    Drive Blocks

When I first got the AX8 i had it set up to use a drive pedal for the crunch tones, but I've since moved away from it because they generally take up too much CPU. I switched to using 1 amp that can do cleans/crunch tones and using the X/Y state, which leaves the CPU free for other things.
