    PA Speakers or FRFR ?

Yep, that's one point of view, in theory probably the absolute one. But then there are specific situations. Here is mine : music is my second job, I currently play with 4 bands (two out of 4 use RCF PA speakers, very common here in Italy). I play club gigs mostly, indoor and outdoor, no sound...

    PA Speakers or FRFR ?

I'm curious. My experience : When I bought the Ax8 5 years ago, I bought a used redsound. Played gigs thru PA with that FRFR as my monitor, and... it really sounded dark to me. I bought Austin Buddy's package, learned a lot about playing Fractal, sold the redsound, and bought headrush FRFR...

Anyone still using a tube amp?

So I did, I would feel guilty too as I consider music as my second job to keep myself from spending all money I earn with it in new instruments and stuff... but I still miss my Deluxe '65... 🤦🏻‍♂️

First FM3 outing with live band - observations and lessons learned.

Yep, I do cut all my cabs at 110 Hz, and all Marshalls bass set at 0 - but only on cranked channels settings for medium/high gain. Still Marshalls need a cut on <125 Hz... (especially Brit Super which I love)

Anyone still using a tube amp?

I've had many amps, best ones: Fender Twin, Marshall 2061x, Deluxe reverb '65. I sold everything to buy an AX8 five years ago and it was a huge bid to me. Truth is: because I could never play them at the proper output level (yes, I had best available attenuators and they didn't work as...

First FM3 outing with live band - observations and lessons learned.

IHihih.. wow, that's definitely thinking out of the box, I'm a fan of yours :) I tweaked a bit my prestes last weekend trying above solutions, I discarded the M-comp due to the CPU cannibalism and also because I'm not yet good enough in understanding how it actually affects the sound. I think...

First FM3 outing with live band - observations and lessons learned.

That would probably be my favorite solution, as I experience same huge bottom end with Marshalls and I'm considering the Input EQ solution. The only counter side is that you use some CPU, perhaps a good amount ? Do you run it pre or post amp ? Thx

FRFR amps for live stage performances

Save months of going crazy after your to find the right cutting EQ and balance all the presets with each other : buy Austin Buddy's naked amps package. You won't regret. I did this, as many others, and I just fine-tune my presets after picking up the amp I want from his, come ready to go. I...

Mates, I carry my ax8 in a suitcase by American tourister... Super perfect. 30 seconds to be ready on stage. Does not move inside it. Minimum foot print. Perfect to me. I can go with my guitar and this suitcase included cables and everything.

The first aim of x-y is to have different input gain, from which he spent hard work to re-balance everything to get THE SOUND and have same output volume and presence etc etc... Ciao, well as I mentioned before (perhaps in Instagram where this started, and where I was asked to share the preset, so that I opened this thread) the amp and cab block are Austin Buddy's, so all credits go to him. Make AX8 work as FM3 switcher unit....

The idea would be to be able switching mode on the ax8... Using it stand alone as usual or as a switching unit for the FM3. Not wasting it for sure.

Make AX8 work as FM3 switcher unit....

It is in a way. But you'd have a double rig with a back up. One would feature a simple fm3. One would be the ax8, and yeah ok no updates. And a third combination would be the two together. So that we ax8 owners would not complain about the missing updates and would spend another 1000$ to mom...

Remote switch for solo next to the singer..... easy solution.

Ciao among the general moaning about the money we spent on our AX8s and whether soon we'll think of spending yet more money on an FM3 (I don't think I will... not soon), here's a simple solution to have a remote switch near the singer on large venue stages to switch on the PEQ booster to solo...

Anyone using Austin Buddy presets live?

For what concerns myself, I 've bought AB's package few days ago (I wish I'd read the updates from this thread before doing it, as I know now there'll be a newer and better product in few days). The power of the AX8 can kill you. It's like a super weapon, you've got to handle it carefully...

Marco great musical taste as usual! How would you rate the whammy feeling ? I've used it in a preset for "c'e' chi dice no" solo with the rectifier... followed the advises of Leon's (I think) to build the right curve for the expression pedal, still the whammy seems to suffer the vibrato...

Yeah, it really makes sense. I will probably go for it. I know how to deal with fender and plexi... But they're just a tiny part of the game. I tried today to dial a Bogner... But actually I don't even know what kind of sound it's supposed to give me, so... But one question : the blue Bogner...

Sound reference to work on presets.

Well, let me correct myself. I did not mean factory presets, I meant factory default setting for the amps. Sound reference to work on presets.

Ciao compare, Not to get technical, as I could not. I think the aim of the redsound is different than an frfr, as you mention, but it does not exactly color the sounds, it's like it gets you just the "amp" sound "mic'ed" by the unit to provide the final result. My frfr reference is the...

Let me add some next steps thoughts to adjust your presets : 1- factory presets (edit : not presets, I meant default amps' settings) are - they are - a very good starting point. 2- Yek's guide does help tweaking, I've read it maybe 5 times already and consult that everytime I approach an...

Anyone using Austin Buddy presets live?

I don't think it's a matter of right or wrong, I think this is about marketing choices. If I were fractal marketing, I would go for something in the middle of what you state above, given the success of AB's approach. That's my opinion.
  38. dariosicily

Anyone using Austin Buddy presets live?

I totally agree with you. I'm building my presets myself, as I think you miss the power of what you're paying for if you can't use it. But what I refer to is the factory made presets. Why probably no one use them, and rather buy AB's.

    AX8 and Redsound FR Cab

Grazie ancora Marco! well let me bother you again with last two questions... Do you not use output different equalizers for your LG12 and PA? Same eq for both ? And... what connection do you use for your headphones ? SPDIF to your PC/Mac to headphones, mixer, or ?

    AX8 and Redsound FR Cab

Grazie Marco. Yeah the lg12 is key to enjoy your sound. So you do your first evaluation with headphones, interesting. Do you think a mixer headphone output with shure se215 could be useful? I will follow your example and try doing the same, I'll see if it works.

Anyone using Austin Buddy presets live?

I love my ax8, but I have to say something honestly. Why a product that cost 1400€ in Europe does apparently need an extra purchase from someone who's spent the effort to create good presets to use it live? I mean... I will probably end up buying AB's solution, but... Why is this necessary...

    AX8 and Redsound FR Cab

I think the question refers to whether the cab - apart from being absolutely fantastic by itself - does align with the frequency response of the FOH. Which is something I'm trying to figure out too. I own AX8 and this cab too, and I'm working on separate eq on two different outputs as what I...

Great! I think transparent use of the drives is best, something you'd struggle to do in real life as when you use high output level no a pedal you have to balance somehow the overall sound... Like using the Klon, if you want to keep your clean tone is a nightmare.. I guess using a control...

XLR vs Mic... I get the gain difference, how about the eq ?

Oh really? Thought it would lose the half of the signal being "read' to cancel the noise if it doesn't make it to the board. Good then, means it's worth to buy an adapter (even generally speaking for small mixer to feed the output speaker, the little guy has just jacks and no XLR output..) Thanks

XLR vs Mic... I get the gain difference, how about the eq ?

Dears, may be silly... I'd like to always use the XLR output for the PA (using output2 for stage monitor), with my 10m Reference super cable... but often mixers have an XLR input for microphones and Jack input for line level (I've got two RCF mixers and they're like this). Apart from the...

    A Tone Epiphany

I use two different output eq profiles on the two outputs 1/2 to feed the PA (1) and my redsound monitor (2), with the redsound being quite darker and bassy then the usual stage monitor, so I cut first two eq knobs (31hz and 63hz) individually on each eq profile to keep things working. Still a...

    Wish Global Looper

Good, useful. Still I think not including that in the ax8 is a marketing way to indirectly avoid CPU usage complaints.
  54. dariosicily

    Wish Global Looper

I think the choice to not set it global is simply due to the limit in CPU usage you may experience... AX8's capabilities - if you use a cranked amp, a couple of drives, some modulation and a high res reverb.... - are limited. A Global looper perhaps would make things worse without the user...

Library blocks - do change affect all involved blocks in one shot?

You save blocks with specific parameters to have a preferred of yours to recall everytime you use same effect, could it be a delay, an amp or anything and you need to recall those values you found suitable to your taste. But, when you change those parameters within a preset, I doubt those new...
