Looking for input on a Vai type delay with harmonizer I think

I agree that it's a long dual delay, I assume of a minim and semibreve/half-note and whole-note, but I think the harmonising just comes from the interaction of the notes. The tempo's 86bpm so I think that should mean that the left side is 1396ms and the right side is 2792ms, like no feedback...

Vai - Guitar Anthology tab book

I think most older tab books were done only by ear, newer ones like Bakerman's Dream Theater tab books they often get given isolated tracks, check youtube for live footage, and sometimes the artist might give it a final check over at the end ensure greater accuracy.

Allan Holdsworth Leads sound so liquid, right?

Whilst it's a rude way of putting it, can't it be taken as read that in trying to imitate any guitarist that their technique is part of their sound? I would think it's a safe assumption that a person inquiring is either directly covering their songs or otherwise deliberately imitating their...

New Ola Englund Axe-Fx III video. Axe-Fx III - BEST OF THE BEST?

I don't think personally blaming Ola's very constructive, the dude's always been positive about Fractal, used their products and whilst his channel is largely Q&A videos recently I think some of his best tones have been within the last two years. It's more interesting to speculate how a person...

New Ola Englund Axe-Fx III video. Axe-Fx III - BEST OF THE BEST?

Yeah, it certainly sounds better in the video the brief moment when he's demonstrating the direct mic so I'm leaning towards that as the 'issue'. Maybe it sounded really good in his room but the final result of tone for most of the video is kinda lacklustre. It's a little surprising.

New Ola Englund Axe-Fx III video. Axe-Fx III - BEST OF THE BEST?

I'm not sure if it's the choice of IRs or whatever but most of those tones sound muffled and uninspiring to me. Ola's previous AX8 videos had better tones I feel like.

IRs York Audio presents the MTCH 212 in .Wav format based on Matchless!

I love the Julien Baker vibe of the first track. Great sounds as always, always nice to hear high tier demos in atypical styles on this forum

That didn't suck- Artists with crazy good tone through Fractal products

Personally, the fact that a well-known artist is using Fractal units live isn't a huge selling point. The convenience is an obvious driving factor and a number of them additionally claim they're using their endorsed signature amps and oftentimes their tone is not what it once was in their...

AFIII 12 High Gain Amps, 1 Riff (In a Mix)

Yeah the Recto and other bassy-scooped beasts seem to work well with the IR and in this particular context. I was pleasantly surprised to quite like the Herbert's vibe in this.

    Tone Triangles

I have a bunch lying around but for most of my time playing guitar I've used Dunlop 3mm Jazz Small Stubby picks, they always seemed to make playing easier especially when early on in learning guitar, I think it's the inflexibility coupled with the tidier shape. I just wish they made them in...

Is there a plan which amps get modelled or not modelled?

I think a while ago when I was looking through the forums for information on the H&K Triamp, one of the points made was that amp's appeal was more flexibility over uniqueness, it's channels broadly sounding similar to a fender, a marshall and a rectifier, or what have you. Kinda like the Randall...

Tell me what amps you DON'T prefer!

As a non-owner, the Diezel models seem fairly underused and as such it's a struggle to find many videos that sound as good as their real counterparts.

    Mesa MKIIC+ 4CM vs USA IIC+ Deep

It feels like there's a bit of a volume disparity which makes my preference, and therefore assumption of the real amp, scene 1. Outside of just being louder it sounds a bit more 'wild' though that might just be imagined. I do enjoy seeing in-the-room audio videos as a prospective buyer as I...

    Bogner 100B tonematch

Nice! The Axe FX seems to have a bit more treble and gain to it I'd say, not that that's a bad thing. I always love to see comparisons and matches. What's that tone in the intro by the way? that's some beefy 00s riffage going on there.

    Original, Plini influenced riffing

Agreed, great tone and I love that style. Feels a bit looser than the Plini I've heard, that stuff's near-robotic.

The best bass sound I hear, I need help please !!!

As a more general thing if you check the nailthemix/URM Academy YouTube Channel there's a bunch of clips of various mixers and producers showing their methods to getting a modern rock/metal bass tone, usually in a very similar way of splitting the track into various frequency ranges and...

Attempting to copy a Sylosis tone

There's a bunch of posts on the old UltimateMetal forums where Josh posted (under the name JoshSylosis) from around this time period. Seems like there used to be studio footage from the recording of this album which unfortunately no longer exists, but he did talk about it in other posts. Around...

    Level vs. Master Vol.

It depends on the amp but in that situation they're saying you'd want it turned up generally speaking. For a Marshall Plexi you might prefer the sound with the MV on 10, whereas a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier at such a setting would sound awful and you might want it set closer to 2. They react...
