[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

I would like to thank everyone here for their responses. However, what I have realized is that the FTP, in system preferences, states "device not connected". Funny enough, I did not notice this before. I went back to avid's site and apparently they have discontinued supporting the FTP since Nov...

not exactly, but yes. I have the ability to select those channels, but the sample rate is not selectable; instead, it says "maximum of 48k". No buffer options. but I can choose bit depth 16 or 24.

[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

where do you set your clock source? is this in the audio interface software (that i don't have)? or is it within the AFX? or DAW? the only thing I see about "clock" is in the AFX, and neither option is working.

[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

So I should be getting sound without Logic running - correct? I'm not. i only have the spdif cables connected to the rear panel of the axe fx. So it's AFX to FTP with two spdif cables, then my monitors are connected to the FTP. Signal is showing on the front panel of the AFX if the main input...

[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

I have tried it on analog (in 1). A signal shows on the front panel of the AFX when I do this (unlike when it is set to "spdif/aes"), but the signal is not registering in my DAW.

[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

My DAW is running at 48k. The FTP settings in system preference "allows up to 48k". The Word Clock in the AFX I/O is set to "spdif/aes". I can't find any software for the FTP, only the latest driver (which i have downloaded). All I am able to do is set the channels, sample rate (48k), and sample...

[solved] Not getting signal, using SPDIF, Fast Track Pro, Axe-Fx Fx II, and Logic

I'm having issues getting my axe fx to register a signal in Logic. I have my axe fx connected to a fast track pro (FTP) using spdif cables, then my monitors are connected to the fast track pro with trs to xlr cables. audio preferences in logic are set to use fast track pro sample rate in logic...

Fast Track Pro with Axe-Fx II XL+: bad idea?

I've been using the axe fx II xl+ as an audio interface since purchasing it about 6 months. I have an old Fast Track Pro (FTP) that I used for recording previously by micing my amps, but since having the axe fx it's been collecting dust and I haven't really though about using it... until...

Help: determining the the right size studio monitors my room

Greetings and salutations. I'm looking at finally getting a pair of studio monitors. Most of what I have read online emphasizes the importance of room size when making a decision on near-field monitors. I want to confirm if my space is suitable for a makeshift studio environment and, if it is...

Possible to monitor with 2 pairs of headphones at same time?

No mixer. I do have an audio interface, but it only has one headphone out as well. Maybe the only solution is a y-cable to connect to the back panel, like you said... or a mixer. I thought I was missing something in the I/O to be able to get sound coming out of two outputs for 2 pairs of...

Possible to monitor with 2 pairs of headphones at same time?

Buddy is coming over to track some bass. I want to be able to listen to him tracking his bass and monitor at the same time as him. I have 2 pairs of headphones. He will be using phones coming out of the front panel phones jack. I have tried using connecting the second pair of headphones to the...

MFC 101: will it be discontinued AND buying used vs new/direct?

Ya, so I'm a total noob on this site, and realized there is a buy and sell section in the forums shortly after posting. I had someone reach out to me quickly after posting too trying to sell me their MFC with additional pieces of gear yadayadaya. The offer was $450USD. That plus shipping plus...

MFC 101: will it be discontinued AND buying used vs new/direct?

I plan to get the MFC-101 mkIII in 2-6 months... Should I be concerned about the MFC getting discontinued within this time frame? Also, I'm located in Canada, and when searching for the MFC used, it is listed higher than direct from FAS. What is up with that? Reverb and Ebay. Not much...

Recommendations on economical setup, suitable for the weekly jam

I really like the idea of only having to 'lug' around 1 wedge. I was leaning towards XiTone as well, based on nothing but what I'm reading online... Can you tell me if XiTone speakers would work well for vocals etc.? I understand they are built for the guitarist, but if I buy 2 wedges, it would...

Recommendations on economical setup, suitable for the weekly jam

I would assume one powered monitor would not be loud enough to cut through when jammin I agree. The smart thing to do would be to actually try out an FRFR system before pulling the trigger on going that route. My friend has a Yorkville 1000W PA. Not sure if it is any good for this application...

Recommendations on economical setup, suitable for the weekly jam

Looking for some help to make the most of what I have or what I should get in place of what I have. I'm assuming many of you axe fx owners have come from tube amps that didn't get used like they should, for whatever reason. Please shed some light on this privileged issue for me, if you can. I'm...

[Solved] sound quality decreases when monitoring through DAW. Normal?

Update: I found the issue. I changed the usb out source to output 1, got rid of the fx loop in the chain, changed all applicable outputs to L+R Sum (some were in stereo). Then in my daw, I record in mono and, simply, just click the "off" button on the track rather than auto or channel 1. doh...

[Solved] sound quality decreases when monitoring through DAW. Normal?

I hear the guitar track in ableton only when the track is armed/recording. I have never actively turned off track monitoring or whatever it is called in ableton (mac). Researching how to do this now. Something about CC value and AIC... I have much to learn, but hopefully will figure it out. It...

[Solved] sound quality decreases when monitoring through DAW. Normal?

Track Monitoring On/Off is in the I/O? I didn't notice that field. I'll see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

[Solved] sound quality decreases when monitoring through DAW. Normal?

I've tried both. I record guitars in mono and then in the I/O I've switched to L+R Sum. All patches are mono.

[Solved] sound quality decreases when monitoring through DAW. Normal?

I've had the axe fx ii for a couple weeks. I'm able to create great sounding patches, but when I am tracking in my daw (ableton live 8) the sound quality noticeably decreases as opposed to jamming straight out of the axe fx. In the daw it sounds tinny, digital, hollow... etc. I'm using the axe...
