    From memory, the X/Y setup is only limited by having to be the same effect type. For example, if X is a Delay then Y must also be a Delay, however the Delay effect types can be different in each state. No experience or info regarding the whammy effect.

    Confirmed with Fractal that there was an issue involving a bad component in my FX8. I had sent my FX8 to Fractal for repair and now the relay jacks are working as they should. Fractal support was great and provided a quick turnaround! I'm very happy with the whole transaction and results!

    2u just refers to the number of rack spaces are available. The axe-fx 2 is 2u rack spaces high. It is also more than 13" deep, so you'd probably want a rack deep enough to completely enclose the axe-fx.

    I can try to mimic what you're trying to accomplish. I was looking into a similar setup about a year ago, but ran into problems because the FX8 does not utilize the grid system like other Fractal units use, and the FX8 does not contain any FX loop block or send/return block.

    I did not try it in the nl12 and I wish I had. I did try it in a Palmer 112 ported cab and I thought it was, by far, the best FR solution available. However, I only had one F12 speaker and 2 cabs and at that point I was leaning toward staying with a traditional speaker setup.

    I had done it before. I got a great tone out of the Friedman hbe v2 in quantum 10. After updating to ares 2, I couldn’t replicate the tone exactly and there seemed to be a weird crackling noise. Since then, I discovered the fractal amps and never looked back.

    This makes sense to me, because the built in speaker emulation is more than likely a filter or EQ curve that doesn't contain any coloring from a mic and preamp and the room/space an IR was created in.

    I second this. I have the Axe III, FC-6 and 2 EV-1 pedals. The Axe-FX is the only piece that gets used, while playing at home.
