I have taken all the drama in stride in recent years with all the shitty remakes, reboots and general committee approved movies that have been put out. I didn't watch the new Star Wars movies, I ignored the Ghostbuster reboot and so on and so forth. No problem. I just learned that they are...

Turned out beyond all expectations really. Has that vintage look and sound, but a modern feeling neck with medium jumbo frets. I'm all for the vintage tones and look with modern playability. As an added bonus, it was stringed with 14-68 strings in C standard, which I'm really loving at the moment.

Kind of a partscaster I guess, I took a chance on this one just because it popped up on the used market for what seemed like a very low price. (like a Fender Player Series kind of price). Built by some guys in Poland called Freakaster, which I never heard of. Crafty consumer that I am. If...

Cordy is such a great player, I think it's a shame that his YT channel doesn't focus more on the playing and less on gear. I do understand that wouldn't generate as many views though. He's so good, he even sounds good on a crappy Line 6 helix (I kid, I kid)

I was always quite satisfied with the "Klon" settings on the FET Boost ala Leon Todd, so I haven't really bothered to check out the Klon very much. I still use my favorite patch on my old AX8 quite often, which is a tube screamer into the FET boost into the US Clean model.

FM9 - FX in front of Amp

I love the FM9 in front of an amp. Best effects board I've ever had, and no cabling mess, power supply, and physical knobs all over that get moved whenever I stuff the pedalboard into a bag. Compared to the AX8, it also has a much lower noise floor. Complete win all around in my book.

    FM3 for REAL Jazz

I believe the reason they have a ton of Marshalls and Boogies and no Polytone is that there's a big demand for the former and virtually no demand for the latter. Acoustic Guitar Pickup Recommendations

Honestly, after trying several after market pickups, the best solution for me was to buy a reasonably priced Yamaha with a decent piezo and inbuilt preamp, then run that through an acoustic IR in my FM3. Guitar plays easy and sounds great through the PA. I leave my higher end guitars at home now.

Dual CLR’s or Dual Powercab 112 plus? Help me decide...🤔

Well I have had both, and kept the CLR. The CLR’s are flatter and just a better monitoring solution than the powercab IMHO. JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

The cab is from a German manufacturer called TT Cabs. Made from Birch. I haven't weighed the cab so I couldn't tell you, but it's about what I would expect from a 2x12 of that size, doesn't feel especially light or heavy.

JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

This rig worked out great. 2x12 with Celestion F12-X200 speakers. Matrix GT 1000 FX in stereo mode. Running with cab sim and power amp modeling on. Patches sound pretty much identical to what comes out of the PA, but the feel is that of a regular cab. I much prefer this to my Atomic CLR.
  64. Purplestrats

JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

It's just such an obvious thing. That ported 1x12 is one of several recommendations Celestion have made for that speaker.

JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

Then say that you tried it that way and it worked for you. All this speculative nonsense you're spouting is just that - nonsense. Celestion posted a cab recommendation because people were asking for cab specs (and a long time ago at that). A ported 1x12 makes sense as it will sound a bit...

JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

Did you or did you not see Celestion themselves jam these speakers into (among other things) a couple of 4x12's with great results? lol Sure if you want a 1x12, make it a bass reflex cab. Loading them in a cheap cab with an underpowered power amp will obviously give less than stellar results.

JFC. The F12 is such an infuriating speaker.

A couple of guys here like to go on about the "Celestion spec cab" because of that ported 1x12 they posted. I have no idea why, as Celestion themselves have a series of videos using this speaker in ALL KINDS OF CABS with great results :) I'm about to try them in a vertical 2x12 with a Matrix...

    Guitar speakers vs F12-X200?

I have a Matrix GT1000FX-1U on the way... still trying to decide if I want to go for two 1x12 cabs or one 4x12 cab. 4x12 seems damn tempting to be honest, but two 1x12 in stereo is also cool.

PRS DGT - should I get it?

The only thing I don't like on my DGT is the placement of the PU selector. I prefer a strat style blade switch, or if I have to have the Gibson style, put it on the upper horn. Small price to pay though, for how great it sounds and feels to play.
  73. Purplestrats

    Celestion F12-X200 speaker

I emailed Celestion, and they said the speaker should be a good match for pretty much any cab. They said to try it in both open back and closed cabs and see what I prefer. Celestion F12-X200 speaker

Could do two 2x12's I guess, but that's starting to look like overkill. Yeah I think two 1x12 closed back cabs would be great. Put one on each side of my stage monitor (for my vocals and band mix), and put them in amp stands to angle up towards my ears.
  78. Purplestrats

    Celestion F12-X200 speaker

Yeah I think you're right. I was also looking at a 2x12 closed back Palmer. Maybe do a blend of speakers with the X200 and the Triple Cone. Only thing is that I would maybe like the wider stereo spread of two separate 1x12 cabs.
  79. Purplestrats

    Celestion F12-X200 speaker

I want to get two these speakers and put them in 1x12 cabinets and run stereo. Not much of a DYI guy, so I'm not going to build cabs. Anyone know any cabs on the market that would work well? What about those Palmer unloaded 1x12 for instance? Not sure if closed or open back would be best.

Food for thought regarding dialing in an amp to suit an IR

What I usually saw recommended was to set the amp as you need for your sound, and use some EQ (high cut in the cab block, parametric EQ) to tame any harsh frequencies. Never saw Leon for example pull back the treble on the amp controls on a mark series or something like that for live use.

    Celestion F12-X200 speaker

I quite like the Laney LFR 112 with cab sims disabled on my Axe and the built in 1x12 "emulation" on in the Laney. Feels really immediate and nice, like a real amp. In FRFR mode it just feels like a weird hybrid thing between an amp and a stage monitor.

    Celestion F12-X200 speaker

The headrush 112 sounds fairly awful though IMO. At least that was my experience when I put it up against my CLR. I'm intrigued by these speakers though, I will have to try it at some point!

    Clean? Or really clean?

I always prefer to get my clean tones by using a crunchy amp and rolling down the volume. Or with a fuzz for that Hendrix clean thing. Most of my guitars have treble bleeds though, that helps. Then the amount of "hair" I want on the clean tone is really easy to adjust.
