XiTone or EV PXM (I know, another FRFR post)

Both are good. My preference would be the EV. I have owned both. Sold both. The Xitone cab always sounded boxy to me. I never had issues with the company but to be honest I would source something you can actually get and rely on. The EV's are ok - PA speakerish but in a band mix they sound fine...

    FM3 for REAL Jazz

I think depends on what type of jazz. This a broad thing sound. Bebop/50s Fender all day long. Fusion type things you can branch out. Pat Martino/ he actually used a RJC so it works. But I really like the PRS Archon for my straight ahead tone. The other thing I use is the the tube pre with a...

    NGD Charvel

They are jumbo stainless. You feel them for sure but the neck is one of the best I have ever played.
  8. Brucegregori

    NGD Charvel

It is slightly thinner. The Mj models of the GG have more of the Sk24 Speed Neck while the US models are slightly rounder. The AZ sits in between the two. All three are great. The MJ has the prestige fret treatment like the AZ so it might feel more familiar is that is what you are used to.

Does weight training mess up your guitar skills?

The simple answer is no. As long as you do both responsibly there should not be an issue. Students and players I have coached that have issues usually have them because of some lack of training correctly. Guitar playing is fine motor skills and muscles. Now if you mess up your shoulder...

    4 Cable Method Problem

Here is my take. Since it is a quick set up thing your best bet is to use the EL return on the JCM. They are notoriously noisy but the power amp alone is fine. 4cm is great but especially noisy with the AF. Your sound is not going to get colored all that much. You could copy your preset with...

Yamaha HS-8 vs Adam T8V vs Headrush 108s or 112s

I think they have gotten a lot better and to be honest the size is better for mixing which needs to be at a lower volume. I have a pair in my studio and usually those are the ones I go for. The issue is they were not really designed to use with a modeler per se so lots of people get them and...

Yamaha HS-8 vs Adam T8V vs Headrush 108s or 112s

The HS8s are great. You find them in control rooms just about everywhere and they really can’t be beat for the price. AX7s are also great a different but cost more and unless you are a bat you really wouldn’t need them for just home use. Unless money is no object…

    Before I return my FM3…

For number 2 it is a combination of things. Converting midi to usb from din to usb A/b can be unreliable, your interface, laptop, usb port. 24 fret guitar question

It can be a different tone and it sometimes isn't that obvious. The big factor here is when you drop a typical pickup you might find in a 22 model into a 24 then usually you have a distinct tone change. But with the right pickup you can surely get a killer sound. I usually find that ESP necks have this sleek feel. The slim U style has a very different feel than say a Charvel. To me many eSP necks feel the same. Very different than the Fender camp.

Yup. FB SN is unique in ESP's line. All in all these are nice. You get a lot for 1200ish, The fishman pickups are also very good. I would imagine this guitar would sound great. The thin U is a certain feel but also cool. Very modern tele.

Of course I am coming from the Charvel side. But even with that said these are all very well made and very useable at a good price. Used prices are lower. The only thing I will say is all of these go 12-16 and have nickel frets vs stainless. I personally prefer stainless frets with this neck...

I would check all your cables...and your outlets to see if you can isolate the issue. Most likely it is not "just" your monitor but where it is plugged into. A power conditioner or isolator will work fine. I run two separate monitors with no issues so my guess it is the power source.

    Practice Patch

It is one tool. Most players such as JM don't "swear allegiance" to a brand, only, and never play or use something else. Is this behavior caused by 50s wiring?

Not one in my line up any longer. But the wiring works great. 50's wiring is a great set up if you like a very very vintage vibe. However, you have to deal with the flaws of it. Since there are 4 controls on a LP Style guitar you have lots and lots of options on wiring. You can have a master...

  88. Brucegregori

Is this behavior caused by 50s wiring?

You can decouple the volume pots - basically wiring them backwards. This allows you to use them independently of each other. If you add a treble bleed then use can keep some of the highs you need. I used this style of wiring for a while. Works ok.
