I've bought the 'Metal Pack Vol.2 for AX8' from @Choptones on recent Black Friday. As of today these are my favorite presets for heavier stuff. I also have the 'Metal & Brit' pack from Fremen, it's great, no doubt, and it includes much more presets, but I personally like those crushing tones...

BRIT 800 LOW GAIN INPUT

According to Yek’s Guide to the Fractal Audio Amplifier Models, the preferred way to get the equivalent of the low gain input is to lower Input Trim in the amp model.

Moving from FX8 to AX8

No, it does not. You may transfer each preset manually, block by block (.blk files), a kind of hard and dull work IMO. You may also try Fractool, an application capable to convert FX8 presets to AX8 format. Fractool has some limitations, but it's much easier than the previous option.

Want to buy an AX8... should I wait?

Had similar thoughts in February. The successor of AX8 wasn't even announced, so I saw no reason to wait. Bought AX8, had absolutely no regrets so far. I'm sure, I'd make the same decision now. :)

Reaper as DAW replacement?

I had some expirience with Cakewalk DAWs and Samplitude before Reaper. As for now, Reaper is my only DAW. I don't consider myself a pro DAW user, I am a hobbyist musician. But I'd definitely recommend to give Reaper a try. It's fast and small, almost tiny (as oppozed to bloated heavyweights...

I'd suppose it may work. It seems people had success with the latest drivers on Windows 10. Maybe @Chiguete being an owner of Fast Track Pro could confirm that. But just like my ProFire it is a legacy product and officially unsupported on Windows 10. Edited: Oops. I'm late :-)

Absolutely agree. I recommended to try before buying with one main purpose - to make sure that the monitors didn't have any inacceptable flaws. It's highly possible that any lower price tag monitors will sound not just harsh, but absolutely wrong. Adam T series is a brand new product, so far...

I'd give Adam T7V's a try. I have great experience with Adam AX series and I have hope that more affordable T series will at least worth the money. But to be honest, I'd never buy a pair of low cost studio monitors if I couldn't evaluate their sound quality.
