MAC Studio anyone using one ?

Just upgraded to an M2 Max w/external SSDs hanging off the back. Hoping to not have to replace for many years to come. So far, very impressed. Fast, quiet, powerful, does way more than I can throw at it (right now) without seeming to struggle at all. Good buy.

    Pickup magnet swapping?

I find A2 mags less defined, a bit more "splatty" in the bass freqs. Woolier, is another descriptor I've read about A2 mags. That's in line with my experience. FYI, I no longer have those pickups...I have A5 Bare Knuckle Black Dogs...with A5 mags.

I must be blind...where's the pickup switch? I, too, prefer 2 pickup guitars (no middle pickups), but also want a 3-way toggle, not a 5-way switch for coil tap or anything else. How's the HD pickup switching work?

Difficulties seeing the side dots on the neck on a dark or dim stage

I used a small (thin) drill bit to create a divot where each side dot is on my EVH Wolfgang w/roasted maple neck. Let's see those FM9 rigs!

I've moved to a 'modular' approach since I don't always want or need the expression pedals. FM9 goes on the floor, the wah (left), delay mix (center) & volume go to the left of the 9 & it all packs into a Pelican 1610.

I do the same, 2.4 off, or, both 2.4 & 5g hidden so access must be granted (by me) & folks can't hop on hoping to check their email or get on social media. And, I also found that the amount of wireless 2.4 gear on stage (mics, guitar wireless, router, phones, tablets...ugh) likely contributed...

    In ear monitor suggestions

Maybe consider having some "sleeves" made for the Shure universal IEMs you are already familiar/comfortable with? Those sleeves should be pliable enough to provide some seal, better isolation than foam tips (I use Comply foam tips on active, noise cancelling headphones (Airpods)), and you can...

There's a thing about bone conduction that helps with low end (and just in general, really). Make sure you're fitting your IEMs correctly in your ears using a twisting motion. It took me a while to really figure that out, but once I did...wow!

    In ear monitor suggestions

These things are so subjective, so each person's opinion is completely valid (for them)... Last year I ended a nearly 20yr run teaching for a local university & took a job in an industry I have zero background, training or experience in. I have setup the AirStep to on/off compressor, OD & chorus on switches 1, 2 & 4 (respectively). Here’s the question/issue: When in scene 1, if i turn on the OD the status LED turns on. Good. If I switch to scene 2 where the OD is off, the AirStep status LED is still lit. Bad. How do I remedy...

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

For me, the decision to build vs buy really came down to what I was going to use to transport the whole thing...or, what case/bag options I had. I hate a case that is just too big. Stuff moves around, gets unplugged or ends up resting on a cable end and causing problems down the road. So, I...

I previously used an Apache 4800 series Pelican-style case for my FM3 and FC6 (one case for each). When I built a slightly wider board (roughly 20"x11" now) I bought a Gator 2412. I really like it, as it has room for the board, a compact collapsible guitar stand, my IEMs, a mini tablet & the...

After hemming and hawing for months over the price of BC's, I calculated how much I was spending on picks (Dunlop PrimeTone, Flow, etc) and decided the BC's were worth a shot if I wasn't dropping $XX/gig (usually 2 picks either worn out or 1 worn, 1 lost). I've been using the same Blue Chip...

It gets very little use, but it has never let me down, so I give it 2 thumbs up. In comparison with MUCH more expensive monitors like some of the event production companies I work with use, well... It's a solid $200-ish investment and, IMHO, more than enough for most stages/personal monitoring.

    IEM routing question

Thank you, @chris, for responding. Advantages...hmm, well, the PSM takes phone plugs for inputs, the XR18 sends thru XLR, so I need a TRS to XLR adapter/cable (I have one). Nah, it's not about the mix, just your channel(s). Basically, the AX8 is not an amp, so it shouldn't be eq'd like one. Ask him to eq it like he would a keyboard (which should mean 'flat'). Might help some.

I’ve got, for me, pretty much my ideal pedalboard/case. Big enough for 1 exp pedal, the ax8, my IEM system & a PP2+. Really, the only thing that would make it better is if it weighed less and/or had luggage wheels & a handle.

Which Line 6 Relay do you use with the AX8?

I had a G50 for years, but the beltpack/input jack died a gruesome death - it literally fell apart - at a gig, so I decided the G30’s “regular” guitar cable was a much more convenient feature, so that’s what I’ve using now.

Yes, I agree, they do. However TheGigRig were the folks that said the El Paso could power it. Shure isn’t interested in telling me some 3rd party manufacturer can replace their OEM power supply. Maybe I need to add a voltage doubler (or their SupaNova) to get the power up?
