Waitlist 8/17 Invite 11/17 Ordered 12/3 status is “shipped” but ups tracking says it hasn’t been picked up yet. Pretty excited! Sold my AX8 to fund the purchase (hence the time gap between invite and order) so I’m definitely feeling pretty sad without any fractal in my life right now!

FS Looking to trade my AX8 for your AxeFX 2

I have an AX8 in great shape. Only used for recording - never gigged and hardly ever even used the actual buttons on the unit (controlled exclusively via AxEdit). Still have original packaging. Unit works perfectly with zero issues. Obviously since I’m recording I’d be better off with an AxeFX...

I have a Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 that is pretty freaking simple, and gets the job done.

Why don’t headphones sound good?

Could be the mixer - I play through headphones exclusively (via my pc/audio interface) and it sounds incredible. Generally guitars through headphones aren’t ever going to sound as good as they do “in the room,” but that’s also true when you mic up the world’s best amps and cabs and then listen...

WTB Your Axe-Fx II for my AX8

I have a mint/barely used Ax8. I’d prefer an Axe II because I am ONLY using it for recording. Sounds great and works fine, but obviously not an ideal recording setup. Open to trade offers.

Anyone using the AX8 just for amps and cab sims ?

On par with anything out there? I have to majorly disagree here, at least in the fuzz department. I own several variations of Big Muff, all of which sound WAY better than the big muff sim in the Ax8. To my ear, the Ax8 can barely be made to sound like a fuzz at all; let alone a good one.

Anyone using the AX8 just for amps and cab sims ?

I was excited to dump my pedals when I got the Axe8, but as impressed as I am with the amp and cab sims (and I am VERY impressed) I don’t find that the Axe8 can duplicate my pedal effects very well at all. To my ear, most of the “drive” blocks in Axe8 sound basically the same - the fuzz sims are...

I haven’t tried it yet but I imagine you’d want to start with a big muff pedal block and make sure it’s set to op amp.

Are you successfully using your AX8 via s/pdif?

I have a 6i6 and have spdif issues. Only works if I make sure to set the project settings audio I’m Logic to 48 kHz, every single time I open Logic. So it works, but not plug n play, and it took me like an hour of noodling around to figure it out.

Need Advice/Opinions on AX8 vs. BIAS

I used Bias for a while and it always sounded harsh to me - a lot of high end hissy/ice pick frequencies had to be eq’d out. Personally I found Amplitube 4 to be superior, although still nowhere near as good as Ax8.
