Lowering gain without a drive block

havent had a chance to mess with the vol block yet, I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I don't want to mess with the volume knob, I want the tone to be the same everytime I go to it, switchable, not variable. The guitar currently has passive SD Full Shreds on it, but I am considering a move to EMGs...

Lowering gain without a drive block

So, in my current setup, I'm only using drive blocks for my leads. Rythem channel has drive block turned off. So, distortion is at a fixed value on the head itself. However, I have certain songs in my set that need a more "vintage" sound (less gain). If I roll back on the volume of the guitar, I...

    FX8 as A/B?

I'm thinking that this could be done with specific amps.... I have a mesa Roadster and one of the inputs in the back is tuner out which mutes the amp. On any other amp, you could turn the master off on the channel your not using and plug in, from the fractal relay, into one of it's channels. In...

    Momentary Scene switch not working....

So, like you can see in the picture, why is there even a momentary/latch button on for the scene footswitch? Strange, I assumed you just switch it over to momentary and it would do it..... It would definitely be nice to be able to have momentary switching of a group of effects vs just one block...

    Momentary Scene switch not working....

Just wondering if I'm missing something here. I have used momentary switching successfully for an effect block, but now I want to do it for a scene. I go to footswitches and click on momentary, but it still works as a latching switch. Backround, I have a scene 1/2 setup for rythm/lead, but I...

    New FX8?

They don't go to NAMM. My band played a show across the street from NAMM and I offered anyone from Fractal free tickets to out show, but I was told that there's no point to NAMM for them since they sell direct. I just got my FX8, so I'd be upset if a replacement came out around now...lol...

So, is there a future for the FX8?

I'd just like a good fuzz, I mean a really good "fizzy" fuzz...... A loop wouldve been great too as I prefer my real SD-1 to the SD-1 model in the FX8....

    Freezing revisited

AWESOME NEWS! The guys at Fractal are great, just got an email saying to just keep the new unit and send the old one back for a refund. Now that's class! Fractal really took care of me on this and it's truly appreciated!

New FX8 arrived and I played with it some yesterday. NIGHT and DAY difference in the touch sensitivity of the footswitches... Even when my older unit was working it was not nearly as fast and responsive as the new unit. Now, let's just hope that they can fix the old unit as I only have this...

    Freezing revisited

Last night's rehearsal was the worst. The FX8 was practically a paper weight. Contacted Fractal and I bought another one and had it overnighted to me so I can survive this Friday night's show. I need to send the old unit in for repair and then return the new unit within the 15 day return...

    Freezing revisited

I've had this issue for a while, kinda happens randoomly, I can recreate it on command. I only had 2 banks of my own presets, so after about a week I loaded 1 of my own banks, then...

    Overwhelming ground hum without humbusters

    Overwhelming ground hum without humbusters

Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I've recently come across this problem with one of my amps. I have a Mesa Mark IV that the FX8 is dead quiet with. I DO use humbuster cables. But I have a custom, hand built amp, that I really like the sound of and wanted to use. It's an extremely well...

The most convenient wireless system to use with the AX8?

I have the XVIVE and I love it. i had a G30 and the Xvive outperforms it. The G30 would dropout at my house around 60+, the XVIVE does not. However, the XVIVE is not built to survive the rigors of touring. But for me, gig about 10-15 times a year, mostly local, its great. And, only $150

Mark from Fractal got back to me. He thinks it might be power/ground related at the rehearsal place. It doesn't happen at the same preset, so we kinda ruled out a corrupt preset. Bandmates complaining about tone....

Realistically, anything below 550hz and the woofieness begins. I don't want to start with the eq blocks again, that's where things went wrong in the first place. I've got it damn close, but the pedal seems to have a little more "grind" to it..... Less compression is the best way I can describe...
  37. C

    Bandmates complaining about tone....

the default for locw cut is 20hz, actually I raised it to 650hz gives it a bit more articulation and less flub, but maybe 650 it too high?
  38. C

    Bandmates complaining about tone....

Yeah, Ive messed with them. There are a few that sound better to my ears, but for the tone I need for the band, the Super OD (aka SD-1) is right. I'm like 95% there, I just can't figure out what parameter can "open up" the FAS Super OD to sound more like the SD-1
  39. C

    Bandmates complaining about tone....

I tried it, but cant really hear a difference. I'm not sure what some of the parameters do, so I get scared to mess with them....haha... I got it pretty close, but like I mentioned before, no matter how close I get it, there's just something about the pedal that makes it sound "bigger" and more...
  40. C

    Bandmates complaining about tone....

yeah, by doing some a/b testing I got them real close. But there's something to the SD-1 that I can't get, that last 3% to make them totally similar. No matter what I do, the pedal sounds "bigger" , less compressed. I'm trying to find a workaround for that now.... BUT, it's really close now.
