    Strange Axe/FC behavior

I would venture a guess that the vast majority of the time it's the MIC cable with a scenario like this. Keep in mind that the cable is carrying both data and power, so it's not going to be as tolerant as if it were just carrying audio. If it's an intermittent break in the cable, it might work...

    Strange Axe/FC behavior

So, this happened again over the weekend at a gig. The FC would seemingly lock and not transmit patch or bank changes via the footswitches, but would transmit expression pedal data (Wah and Volume), and I have an external pedal into switch 3+4 that triggers the Axe to send a MIDI message to an...

Piezo & Magnetic Pickups Through a Standard XLR Cable

I'm with Rex, and I'd rather run the balanced signal from Axe to mixer. I don't really see any savings (time, space, etc.) from just running an XLR for each signal.

How far ahead is the III of the II these days?

The III obviously has significantly more processing power. We're all going to say the III sounds better as well, but that's always going to be somewhat subjective. Here's what I can tell you for sure....Every time I get a new guitar processor, the old one becomes my back-up, and the current...

    Strange Axe/FC behavior

The weird thing was that I couldn't control presets, but the MIDI message that the external foot switch triggers would still send. You would think if it's a cable/connection issue, it would be all or none. Especially since the XLR cable is carrying both power and data. Carrying both power and...

    Strange Axe/FC behavior

1.12 is the latest FW for the original FC's correct? I don't like to do FW upgrades on the Axe unless I have some time to play through it a little prior to the next gig. My schedule has been a bit heavy the last few weeks, so I haven't been able to get above 21.02 on the Axe. I'm not overly...

    Strange Axe/FC behavior

My FC scribble scripts didn't go blank. They were just frozen on the current display. I didn't mention, I'm on firmware 1.12 on the FC's (they're original, not Mk2's), and 21.02 on the Axe (again, original, not Mk2's).

    Strange Axe/FC behavior

I had a head scratcher at a gig on Saturday. I'm not sure if it's FC related, or Axe releated, so I'll start in this forum. Several times, my FC12 seemingly froze, and I couldn't control anything on the Axe relating to presets. No preset changes, no bank changes. I didn't think to check my...

Quick question for new FC-12 owner

You could make it work, but your patches would have to be very well thought out, and you'd each have to be extremely cognizant of what the other was doing live. There wouldn't be much room for spontaneity.
  10. G

Quick question for new FC-12 owner

Gotcha. If you run two separate signal paths, you can set a scene change that only impacts one of the paths. When I use guitars with Piezo's, that's what I do. The mags and Piezo's each have their own path. My scene changes only impact the mag path.

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

Can we get some clarification on this? Assuming the presets do not automatically save, is there a reason to or not to save once you load a preset and the new values are updated? Is there a way to "bulk save" everything with the updated values, or is it a one-by-one project?
  13. G

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

Cut through the mix: something I do not understand

A lot of cutting through the mix has to do with EQ. You want to make sure you're carving out space so that the various instruments and vocals are not competing for the same sonic space any more-so than necessary. AND...It's a team effort. EQing your guitar to cut through is great, but you'll...

Electric/acoustic and bass rig with separate control via midi?

I might have lied....I don't have the Axe in front of me, but after thinking about it, I don't think I'm using a volume block to split the input signal when using the acoustic sim patch. You wouldn't need the volume block to split the signal into two paths. There's definitely a volume block...

Electric/acoustic and bass rig with separate control via midi?

    Grounding issue with G90 wireless

Maybe a dumb question, but I always check the silly stuff first. Are you sure it's a ground issue, or are you getting wireless interference? The G90's work in the 2.4G range, so if you've got a router, or something else operating near that frequency near by, it can cause issues.

    Axe III froze during performance

The only times this has ever happened to me (maybe twice over several hundred gigs), it was the XLR cable. Keep in mind that you're transmitting both data and voltage over that XLR, so it's going to be extremely sensitive. You may have a small break in the cable, where it only shorts...

Agreed. However, I'm using more processing that just the amp block to get my acoustic sim. My thought was that if Fractal could model the AC3, they could do it more efficiently (DSP-wise) as it's own block than what I'm doing in my patches. Additionally, I wind up burning the entire amp...

Unorthodox Setup Question (New Owner, Sorry)

I believe the Focusrite has direct monitoring. If so, you could run your mic into the Focusrite (the Axe doesn't have a mic pre), analog out to the Axe, and not have any AD/DA conversion latency. Run that into the Axe's input 2, and then you could use input 1 for your guitar if you wanted to...

I'd go with multiple patches. Have a separate set of patches tweaked for each guitar. You've got plenty of memory inside the Axe to do it. For my guitars with Peizo's, I just have a separate signal path setup in the patch. Mags go to input 1, through the signal path, to output 1. Piezo does...
