Axe-Fx 2 still worth grabbing?

In what way does it not work with new Macs? Is it the 64-bit-only issue or something else? I have an AxeII XL+ and was thinking of upgrading my old Mac soon.

Anyone use the Axe-Fx with an Acoustic?

I do a tone-match of a dry recording of the guitar like Rex said... use it where you would normally use a cab block. Then I put a bunch of compression on the front end and dial in reverb and effects on the back end. I used this setup to do a 90s "unplugged" set at House of Blues Dallas playing...

12.08 Reverb "Economy" Mode and CPU

Have a dry sound sent to the front-of-house speakers and a wet signal sent to the recording. I'm going to make an assumption that your sound man has ONE extra channel in the board that you can use to do this. In your preset, have one output without reverb and another with reverb... voila... best...

Good clean tones?

I'm trying to use an AC-30 as a second amp to get good "chime" like Dean DeLeo. It's not working. When I isolate it, it just isn't that clean... it's got a little sizzle and breakup in it. I have the Input Drive at 1.5 so I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions to get a good chimey clean...

Small issue with FXL

Can you detail this please? I'm also using a Mimiq for the doubling effect and would love to not have an external device. I have NOT had good results trying to duplicate it, but it sounds like you got close. Can you share this preset or the settings or explain it in detail please?

The case I had for that was stupid heavy though. Redoing it, I'd probably go with a nice Pelican case with wheels maybe and just mount to plywood. Paint the plywood black this time. Simple, effective. Money in the case, not the board (which really just exists to keep things consistently...

I tried one at a guitar show in Dallas. I wanted to not like it but It’s awesome. You can dial in tones quickly and the interface is VERY good (and I generally think touch screens are gimmicky). I’m not sure if it’s got the deep editing and depth Is want but overall you can dial in VERY good...

Ugh.... that's so cool. It is an annoying limit on my (very new) XL+. Damn... no way to justify an upgrade after only a few months. Very cool though and glad to see it addressed.

I don't recommend it. If you get an area on stage that's really bassy, it'll mud over all of what you might hear from PA and it'll be bad news. I recommend taking a small, powered PA speaker for your own stage sound (point just at you like a monitor wedge). If you need it, turn it up, if you...

@scottp Man I wish I could say IRM but I'm going to be using a crappy Behringer powered PA speaker that I happen to have laying around... just for stage volume. They have stage monitors too that are run by in-house soundman. What do you suggest? I'm open to any suggestions.

So I ran into this lately... A buddy moved to a new house and swapped his QSC K12s for K8.2s head-high on stands. I thought, "oh man, he got wimpy PA!"... but the newer 8" speaker to me sounds far better in a medium sized room (about 12'x28'). I've always thought 12" PA speakers were too much...

How now? Lots of heavy gear and lots of compromises. I even found myself parring down rigs for practice or weaker venues just b/c I didn't want to carry the weight or do the setup. My profile picture shows when I had an effects problem and bypassed, going with a wah+tuner (backup gear!)...
