    I haven't actually tried the Nuclear Tone, but I think the cab was recommended by Yek, because the Gibson speaker isn't in the factory IRs. I'll definitely give the Nuclear Tone a try at some point.

    Put an fx loop in the AX8 after fx, before cab block and plug that into your amp fx return. Use the main outs (with the cab block) to feed FOH. I would experiment on the amp block to get power amp simulation in that feed as well, someone probably can help you with that.

    For some things I would be fine with 3 footswitches (including mainly all my regular gigs and quite obviously studio work) but there are some occasions where you need to be able to adapt fast, where the AX8 seems to take the lead.     FRFRs are often not used with external power amps, most of the ones recommended here are active. Also the FRFR sound is very different than the sound coming from a guitar cab. If you want that, then you need the guitar cab.

    Exactly. For me, all I need is 3 scenes, so I could just set the FM3 with S1/S2 on button 1, S3 on button 2 and tuner on the third. That's rhythm, solo and clean. Why would you need anything more?

    The only thing I can think of to add to Jimfists amazing post, is experimenting with the blend knob in the drive block. Many drives make the low end sound disgusting, so I like to crank the gain and set blend as low as 10 %. This probably depends on the tone you're going for.

    For high gain stuff I love the Oranges and 5150s. Always the 57 and usually something to blend with it. I think I mainly blend the 121, but not sure of the mic. Usually just 2 mics of the same cab. For lower gain I mainly use some Greenback Marshalls.

    For bass the AX8 is somewhat limited but it does sound phenomenal. Many bass players have been sculpting crushing tones with 2 amp signal chains in the Axe Fx II, but you can't do that on AX8. We used the SVT for amp and split the signal into 2 B7Ks before the amp.

    Archon and Satan are amps I also am very interested in. Invective is cool as well, but doesn't have as much personality as the others, so I don't really miss it. Edit: The Omega Amps Iridium and Obsidian sound MASSIVE and those would be amazing additions. Probably a bit more rare though.

    I think I'm using the 2111. Not sure about the number but looks like mine in the pic. It seems very sturdy and fits all my stuff (i don't use an expression pedal tho). By no means takes a beating like a flight case, but I travel on foot a lot and it's perfect for that.

    Absolutely agree. The FAS Modern was surgically accurate and tight while the Splawn was a bit loose on the low end and had some plexi-like squishiness that brings quite a bit of character in a high-gain context that hopefully shines through in the final mix.

    It's weird that people feel they're losing something fundamental when hipassing at 87 hz. I myself hipass all my (guitar) presets between 110-160 hz. I feel that anything below 100 is bass territory, and in my band a bit above as well.
