Do you think Metallica is using Dyna-cab live?

Why use Dyna-cabs when they already have their live cabs professionally captured as IRs? I believe it was Matt and maybe Cooper who helped their techs with this. I mean, Dyna-cabs ARE great, but when you have your favorite live cabinet captured and loaded in the Axe, why bother???

How Much Further Can We Hope For?

Isn't the memory used for the operating system (firmware updates) exactly the same on MkI, MkII and Turbo? It was my understanding that the storage used for presets and user IRs was the one that got upgraded.

FM3 Firmware Version 5.03

I've found not only they're "good", I've comfortably/confidently made some commercial recordings using them. Clients seemed happy with the end result. No mods/tweaking, just the factory preset directly to DAW. Out of the many units I've had over the years, FAS has the best factory presets by far.

Using the Axe-Fx 3 as an everyday audio interface?

AFAIK the internal controls for volume are disabled every time you choose an external device for audio on MacOS. I had to control volume via the external device, and that applied to AVID Mbox 3, Scarlett 18i20 Gen 2 & 3, AFX III and FM3.

FWIW I never got S/PDIF to work on my 2nd Gen 18i20 and the AX8. Tried everything I could think of and what fellow forumers suggested... Upgraded to a 3rd Gen and got it running smoothly right out of the box. Hope it's not your case but something was not OK on some units from previous...
