    Yamaha DXR series is well received by the FRFR community. Unfortunately, good FRFR stereo setups are expensive everywhere. If you are just jamming in your room, and don't need stage volume levels, studio monitors are much better for the price, than stage monitors like CLR, Xi-tone, Matrix, etc...

    Plenty of low end in most any FRFR speaker, as long as they go down to about 50hz, and most respond lower at around -1db. I play an 8 string tuned to G on the 8th and B on the 7th, and even the little JBL LSR studio monitors had plenty of low end, too much in fact, I had to use the low cut.

    I use about a 20' cable, no problems here. I bet it's something to do with the USB specs on certain PCs and the AX8. I plug into a USB 2.0 port on my main desktop PC with Gigabyte Z68 motherboard, it's old (2011) but does the trick.

    AX8>Mesa 2:50>Fryette 412 here, best tones I have had from the AX8 yet. Ditched the FRFR idea, glad I did. The Mesa 2:50 is almost like a pre/poweramp hybrid though, it's input stage really colors the tone, sort of like a super clean Fender.

    I tried various mid level FRFR speakers, it was not for me. I liked the JBL LSR monitors, but they did not hav enough SPL for me. I recently went back to using a Mesa 2:50 and a Fryette 412, much happier now. As long as I don't have to move them.
