I had the same problem, but it was solved thanks to forum advice: mainly avoiding x/y amp switching. Turning off x/y footswitch toggling option as well as that also adds a delay. I have near instant scene switching now. Everything I was doing with amp x/y could be done with scene controllers...

Default to NaN... I'm sure I read in cliffs notes that the eq had more latitude in either direction than a real amp. If so that would make my settings fairly extreme. It's undeniable that it smoothed out the spikes and clatter, but if it's not a common approach it'd indicate some issue...

My new bass mid treble default is no longer noon (5) but 2-3. It's solving a ton of issues I was having with the ax8 tones and saving a lot of advanced parameter fiddling. Some amps I've passed over like the SLO and Corncob are sounding amazing now.

I'm unclear whether this is a full Stealth (bridged) or only one 90w channel. It says 180w peak, but the Stealth Pro is 180w continuous. Half a Stealth in a half size box is not quite as impressive. It seems to be voiced for guitar though not a flat SS amp.

That's what I mean. If an open logic project is set to 44.1 (or you change to it) it'll prevent the 6i6 changing to 48khz if you try to. I don't use GarageBand, perhaps it's fixed at 44.1k?

ISP STEALTH PRO POWER AMP

I use a Stealth Pro with my Ax8. It's so small I can mount it under the pedal board and it drives an 8 ohm Engl 4x12 to very loud volumes that easily match acoustic drums. Its comparable to my 100w Mesa Recto at about 2/3 volume, but I don't use any clean tones. What country?

That ClinchFx EP-Pre also sounds good to me, certainly reminiscent of the EP. I'd be happy with either in the Axe. Tbh I was quite surprised the EP wasn't already in there. Its difficult to describe what it does but on low settings it makes any amp sound and feel better, clean, lead, whatever.

Out of curiosity Joe, why do some amps exhibit the clicks more than others? On some amps its barely audible, on others very much so (Atomica presence dial)!

Ax8 makes clicking noise while using knobs

It seems to vary depending on amp model. I notice it most on the Presence and EQ dials, less on the drive. Good culprits are the Atomica and 6160+, probably others.

I've been looking for the same. Seems to be loads of USB to SPDIF adapters but not the reverse.

Wish Easy spaces when preset naming

Btw, is it me or is the LCD on the ax8 really laggy. It's really easy to scroll past a parameter value or character because of the display lag.

Took me ages to find the space character. It's in punctuation and numerals...somewhere. It would be great if it was the first character on that knob to facilitate speedier preset naming.

Yeah, I was hoping OSX would just see it as a regular digital audio signal via USB and not need drivers. Let us know if it works, I bet the Digidesign one would if yours does. I'm on El Capitan.

Thanks ED, another option to investigate. This is interesting though.... old Digidesign Mbox USB interfaces have SPDIF and can be picked up for a few quid s/h. Question is will they work with OSX Core Audio?

Great, that was my hope - if it has zero (additional) latency SPDIF seems the way to go then. Just have to decide between ESI, ART or a 6i6.

The blurb on ISPs site is a little confusing. It does describe it as a 'guitar amp' but claims its response from 20-20k is +/- 0.5db which i'd say is pretty flat. The guitar amp behaviour part seems to come from the way it clips, supposedly like an A/B guitar amp. Thing is I don't want my FRFR...

(Thanks for the heads up on this via my other thread, made more sense to ask my questions here) Is latency lower than going via DA/AD conversion of a regular audio interface? I am using a Scarlett 2i4 currently, latency is OK but not ideal.

anyone tried one with the ax8? It's the only spdif coax to USB option I've found that isn't part of a larger audio interface. Cheapest other solution I've seen is a Scarlett 6i6.

Yes, there's still a little pressure, enough to keep it snug without the potential to cause damage IMO. The lid foam is thick and its the 'handle' on the ax8 that it tight against the foam, not the knobs which are only slightly proud of the top edge of the lower case. On a side note I have an...
