Fremen - Synthpads & drones pack

OK, I see they are medium hot pickups with a sweet mid range and tone, so that should work fine with the presets pack!

AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

I would love to get it done by Cliff and asked the designer from HOOK a couple of times to send it. But he's not into it since the amp already has IR's.. so he does not see any benefits of having it modeled.

AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

It's a totally different amp from the old Captain since the Wizard has IR's, motorized knobs and midi. Two clean voicing (Fender and Vox-like) and a couple of different voicings for the lead channel, like 'Deep', 'Modern', 'EQ' and 'Vintage'. Overall it has higher gain (I find myself barely...

AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

On the pic I was using the Hook head live with the Fractal in the FX loop (for FX) and some pedals in front of the amp. I could also use the 4CM connection, but I had the pedals on the board and midi/loop setup to go with all the presets ready. So it was more a matter of a fast plug and play...

AFIII Presets Brilliant solo by Richard Hallebeek

Thanks so much for the brilliant sound programming Thib! ;-)
  10. Richard Hallebeek

Anyone tried the Hook Wizard amp?

You could say that yes. it's the way things are going now, a one in all solution. I do love the Fractal for FX live! I use the Axe FX III stereo, using an extra power amp (the Seymour Duncan power stage 700) and that setup pretty much blows everybody away, including me sometimes ;-)

Anyone tried the Hook Wizard amp?

The amp is amazing.. and might be everything you need. I played live a couple of times with it, pre corona. It's a regular tube head with enough power for a live gig, Front knobs are automated so what you see is what you get and sounds are easily adjustable and storable. Amp has IR out and an...

    Thanx to G66

Jacques and Sussi Isler are an example for all other music companies out there how service and customer friendly support has to be handled. They saved me more then once, f.i. on a late Saturday night and got things fixed within 48 hours by sending me goods through express mail and explaining me...

Allan Holdsworth Leads sound so liquid, right?

I had that Rockett pedal and I couldn't really get it to work for me. I have been using the reissue TC Electronic Classic Booster + distortion. Set it to the 'booster' side and it will give a really nice smooth boost. This is one of the pedals I have been using for years and will never get rid...

Allan Holdsworth Leads sound so liquid, right?

Axe FX III. Latest FW. Going through the new presets today and will probably approve to Thibault. He did a great job nailing the sounds I had in my head.

Allan Holdsworth Leads sound so liquid, right?

Thanks, I'm also still stuck on the first preset ;-) A great job from Fremen who translated some of the sounds I had in my head. I really like the older tone from Allan end of the 70's and that's where we went for. Good to hear you are enjoying it!

    Question about Midi Block

CS1 assigned to switch a boost function on the amp on and off. Sounds simple.. just always starts with Lights for the switch on and have to press it twice to get any switching happening.
  23. Richard Hallebeek

    Question about Midi Block

Ah ok I erased the Midi block. Doesn't really help though. Now I have only CS1 assigned to #CC91. However when I go to the specific preset, it defaults with LIGHT ON on the FC 12 foot switch for that CS1 switching function, but with CC91 not activated. I have to press the FC12 footswitch that's...

    Question about Midi Block

So I set up CS1 (described below) in the Fractal III to control CC91 to switch between a value of 0 and 127 (on and off) But when I select a pedal button on the FC 12 to 'Control switch' and switch CS1, nothing happens.... SETTING UP THE MIDI PAYLOAD FOR A CONTROL SWITCH: On the Axe-Fx III...

    Question about Midi Block

  30. Richard Hallebeek

    Question about Midi Block

I have a question about the midi block and FC12, that I can't quite figure out. I want to switch between a value of 0 and 127 for #CC91 on the midi block. It's there (pictured below) and when I press command 1 and 2 TEST, the #CC91 switches my audio switcher fine. So that works. But how can I...

The sounds we designed are all built from the ground up. So no copying from other amp packs, even not from Fremen's amp packs. We first sent our sysex files back and forth through the internet (Amsterdam to Mauritius and back ;-) for over 4 months, but it didn't quite work out. We ended up...

AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

Thanks so much again for your thoughtful words. I play jazz and fusion and that's for a small audience. So people probably aren't familiar with my music. But the sounds are pretty much straight ahead lead tones that you can use in so many styles of music. The Hook amp is like a Plexi Marshall...

AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

Thanks so much! Like it says in the PDF, I normally turn down my volume half way, as well as my tone. That gives me a nice smooth defined lead tone. AFIII Presets Richard Hallebeek jazz-rock presets pack

Thanks so much! I think the PDF was a nice addition, instead of just 'dumping' a couple of presets with the listener and they have to figure out what to do with it. So sometimes it seems too obvious maybe, but hopefully some of that text makes it a bit cleared what the presets were meant for. We...

Thanks, I have the Yamaha DG head too. It's an amazing amp. Thanks for listening! This was a fun little project; pick a preset from one of Fremen's packs and continue the solo with a new sound every 4 or 8 bars. The solo was actually 2 minutes longer, but I was out of shirts ;-) and I think the message is clear, great sounds right of the box, no editing...

Stereo vs. Mono at gigs. What are you using?

I think it depends on the size of the venue and if the audience will hear your stage set up at all. I always play full stereo. Mostly small venues and lots of times I'm just lightly amplified by the front of house. Playing in stereo gives me a much more defined sound and makes me play way more...

    Three Amp Blocks?

I would like to do that, with a three amp setup - left, right, middle, Great idea! Also, switching would be smoother. Looking forward!

Favorite Clean amp in the III?

i love the way the amp can sound 'plexi', has a big clean channel that also works well with pedals, then to a singing mid heavy lead tone, but still sounding like a 'real' amp, instead of some amps being to 'nosy' or 'honkey' to my taste.
  59. Richard Hallebeek

Favorite Clean amp in the III?

My HOOK was sent off to the States and modeled there by Cliff and his team. I love the way it sounds, just like the real amp here, but more versatile inside the Fractal.

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 5.00 Firmware Released

Thanks, I was going for a hollow body type sound. I always found it very hard to get a nice real clean sound from a tube amp since there always seems to be some break up from the tubes that are working. But with the Hook and the 'pull' gain knob on the clean channel to bypass the EQ, the tone...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 5.00 Firmware Released

I hope for the Hook guys in IJsselstein, Holland, this will help get their name out and boost the sales of the amp. Thanks for those non-edge HOOK models Cliff! Like expected, the new models sound just like my real HOOK amp.. can't tell the difference in a blindfold test. I love the flexibility I have now of using the axe FX HOOK amps through USB right into Logic Pro. Also for re-amping, the Axe FX works...

I use smaller cabinets with G12 M Greenbacks and the 4 x 12" cabinet has Celestion V30's. I would recommend to try both to see what fits your taste. V30's have more of a sizzling high that's suitable if you are looking for a more high gain rock sound from the HOOK..

That HOOK is my amp that I sent to Cliff for modeling it and using it in the new firmware.
