I usually use one at a time. However, I have many presets designed for several guitars and different situations. I don't understand what you're saying. I don't have that many user IR slots. I have the standard Axe-Fx II.

Didn't say that they weren't good. I just prefer to use my OwnHammer IR's and I've run out of user slots. Looking for ways to get more user IR's in there without having to buy a whole new unit. Content with the II, besides the user IR slots. I don't have the XL version.

Which one do you guys prefer to use? I learned the reverb trick from @Guitarjon videos and have noticed an improvement in my IR's sound. However, just wondering if others like to blend in room mics rather than using reverb. If so, why?

Because, they're not "better". They're just different sounds, different cabs and different speakers. Think of them as expansion packs. The stock cabs in the Axe-Fx are by no means inferior to aftermarket IR's.

Never crossed my mind about the boost in the amp block. Gonna check the wiki to see what it does actually. I could try the Micro or the RCB and just change their low cut to match the 808's (which I think is somewhere around 700 Hz).

I could, but it's finding the freq that the 808 is boosting and then lowering it to flat. Actually harder that it sounds because you have to get Q, freq and dB's correct...but still.

How could I set up a filter block (or something else) to get the benefits of setting the 808 as a clean boost (drive 0, level 10) without having that trademark mid hump associated with the 808? I like how the 808 tightens up low-end of a high gain amp and gooses the input.

I consider myself a Marshall fan, too. I really enjoy the Carr Roamer for cleans. I used to own the physical amp. Mine was a 2x10 combo, so I like using 10" IR's from OwnHammer with the Axe's amp model, but it works well with 12" IR's also.

I had a Carvin DC727 that I put a Crunch Lab in. Mine was swamp ash with maple neck and rosewood fretboard. It sounded great. I think it'll put you in familiar territory. Those Lithium pickups are just awful. Almost anything would be an upgrade. :D

I agree. I've never heard a pickup in my 20+ years of playing sound so terrible. It's got me looking at the tone chart's from Duncan and DiMarzio and feeling scared to pick anything with a treble number over 5. And since Kiesel refuses to give a tone chart for their pickups, I have no clue what...

I liked #1 better than #2 because #2 sounded more muffled in the lows. I liked #3 better than #4 because #3 had more clarity and bite to it. Guess I prefer a modeler over a real amp. :D

For "pristine" cleans I'd recommend you trying this: Low cut between 80 to 130Hz in cab block. Filter block (towards end of signal chain) set to high shelf between 8 to 10kHz and boost the top-end.

The 50% volume pot sounds better. Have you considered doing the 18v mod to the EMG's? It'll increase the pickup's preamp headroom, so you don't get the clipping. It's fairly easy and should only take you about 10 minutes to do.

Quick question. In your DAW, where is the input fader signal hitting at when you're recording the DI? It shouldn't be too hot. What's the number (like -10 or so)?

Explain this to me. I think there may be something you're doing wrong. Are you changing the output source to USB in I/O? Or doing something different? I've never heard of the "bypass mod".

Yeah. I have no clue. Maybe it'll eventually get found out. But, in my opinion, something is wrong with the signal before it hits the Axe-fx. :)

Alright. I wasn't in my studio when reamping those other times and I agree with them sounding horrible. Got in the studio, loaded them up and went...WTF? :D So, I added some bass guitar and drums. Reamped it through the JVM model with an OwnHammer impulse. Mixed and mastered it. Wanna know what...

Thanks. I can share the preset. However, I used an IR from OwnHammer. It's the OH 412 DZL GOV 160-05 from the HHC Volume 1. So, it's not gonna sound the same if you use a different IR.

So, I copied the settings from the Recto 1 Red model and put them in the Tube Pre. I added the Metal Zone drive in front, lowered the mid, raised the tone a little bit and left drive and level at 5. Wow! Using a Mesa V30 OwnHammer IR and my JP6 BFR tuned to D-standard, it sounded huge. The chugs...
